The Canadians measured our sticks before the game.

And that’s why I hope the Canadian teams cup drought continues forever.

That’s some serious salt.

I had heard, don’t quite recall where, might have been a sports radio show, that one of the Habs trainers had measured a few of the Kings busted sticks from their practice the day before Game 2.

You do what you have to do to win. It was just meant to be regarding the playoff run the Habs had with all those OT wins. It was crazy stuff. Roy was also en fuego that playoff run.

Can’t believe that was 25 years ago already. Where in the f*** does time go?

Uh I guess I’ll ask it in here because he’s a part of the Flames now. But what was the consensus about Nick Shore when he played here?

At his absolute best, he was a responsible fourth line center who was pretty good defensively.

To be honest, though, there are a lot of guys around the league just like him. He’s a very vanilla bottom sixer without any discernible edge or unique skill set.

He's a tan crayon. Just kind of there. Good defensively and a decent AHL scorer but not much else. Maybe 20 points a season on the high end. Not physical, not fast, just a warm body.

Vegas has some interesting decisions to make this summer which will shape their franchise for the next decade. They have Neal and Perron, both 30 years of age, both likely looking for retirement contracts with long term. They have a little more than $26M in cap space, which could be used to get a premiere UFA.

I think if all the dominoes fall their way, Vegas lets Neal and Perron go, unless one of them is will to sign a 3 year deal. Then they should look to sign Tavares, a 27-year old star, who will make them better now and for the next 5-6 years.

Vegas has five outstanding prospects which are 18-19 years of age in:
Brannstrom
Hague
Suzuki
Glass
Leschyshyn

All of them will be on cost controlled entry level contracts until 2021-22. If even three of those five become highly productive NHL players (which wouldn't be surprising considering the position where they were drafted) Vegas has a great foundation to build on. If four, or five out of five hit, they are going to be very tough in the coming years.

Yep. Rumors have them harder on an EK trade than Tavares, though they could very conceivably land both (surely losing a top prospect in the process with an EK trade).

I think GMGM would be a real fool to re-sign Neal or Perron.

Crosby is the responsible corporate guy, Ovechkin is the hippie that follows the band across the country while living out of a van.

I just don’t think Ovi drives around in this bus. But I understand your comment. LOL

I think the GM's have been burning the phone lines, seems a lot of teams are trying to make some moves.

Bob McKenzie (on his podcast) said the Canes are very interested in ROR and that Skinner would be a good fit in Buffalo, alongside Eichel.

Also, have heard the Bolts (who have been trying to upgrade their defense) might be moving Tyler Johnson to get some $$$ to sign JOhn Carlson, and if you're him and you can choose where you want to play, Tampa Bay ain't a bad place to park you skates.

Elliotte Friedman thinks that teams are interested in Patches but want a deal in place, that the Habs might have to go the sign and trade route

Kovy is starting to smell the coffee, his idea of a multi year deal at 6M per is slowly falling by the wayside. From what I've read, several teams are interested, most for 1 yr, a few for 2yr. No takers on 3 yrs.

Oilers trying to move Lucic and his massive albatross of a contract. They want it moved before July 1 and his 3.5 m bonus kicks in. Retaining part of salary or taking a bad contract will most likely be part of the deal.

Friedman thinks that Chicago Blackhawks forwards Anthony Duclair and Tomas Jurco could be available, as well as Minnesota Wild forward Tyler Ennis

Neal looking for 6M or more, which won't be in Vegas, but Perron might be inking a short term deal in the 5M range to stay.

Petan: 5'9" 179lbs 23y.o. (2nd rnd pick 2013)
17/18 AHL: 52gp 52pts (15g, 37a)
17/18 NHL: 15gp 2pts (2g, 0a)

Brodzinski: 6'1" 217lbs 24y.o. (5th rnd pick 2013)
17/18 AHL: 29gp 30pts (13g, 17a)
17/18 NHL: 35gp 6pts (4g, 2a)

No need for Petan when we already have JB. It'd be interesting to see Brodzinski in a scoring role in the NHL. I wonder what would happen. I guess Iafallo is more deserving.

If Petan is traded I'll be curious to see what his value is.

Not to mention they’re stacked with high picks for the next couple of years.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson and the Arizona Coyotes are reportedly close to agreeing to an eight-year contract extension.

A few weeks ago, TSN hockey insider Bob McKenzie reported that the Coyotes offered Ekman-Larsson an eight-year, $66 million contract, while Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that the two sides had come to a verbal agreement earlier this evening

Ekman-Larsson is a huge piece of Arizona's present and future, so locking him up for eight more years in a significant move. The 26-year-old is officially allowed to sign a new deal starting July 1st.
