I was trying to find an opportunity to take a picture of them close to each other on the ice and I got one. Then proudly posted it on Snapchat.

If/when Seattle gets a team, I think one takeaway the established clubs will have is to shy away from making side deals in order to not lose a certain player.

Don’t give the new kids on the block any additional assets, submit your list and let them take the one player of their choosing.

Look at that players/picks Vegas (Haula, Tuch, Smith, March, Theodore, Carrier, assets from CBJ to grab Karlsson, etc.) were able to acquire via side deals. It sure helped shape their club.

Then they threw a 1st,2nd,and a 3rd to get Tartar. No way that guy is worth that considering how little he's contributed.

Lars Eller and Smith-Pelly... Couple of third liners. Stoll and Williams not too long ago for the Kings. That's what's been missing for a few years.

Eller:
Regular season - 18g, 38pts in 82 games
Playoffs - 24g, 62pts in 82

Smith-Pelly:
Regular season - 7g, 17pts in 82 games
Playoffs - 24g, 27pts in 82

Smith-Pelly had 7 goals in 75 regular season games, and 7 goals in 24 playoff games. When you get at least one guy that outproduces his regular season numbers by that kind of margin, you tend to win the Cup. Or seriously compete for one anyway, as long as everyone else is doing what they do. Kuznetsov became a 109 point player in the playoffs. He had 83 in the regular season. Oshie, 72 in the playoffs, 52 in the regular season. Wilson, 59 in the playoffs, 37 in the regular season. Holtby went from .907% in the regular season, to .922%. Those weren't even his best sv% numbers in a playoff tournament. 4th best of his career.

The west is in a real crisis. The Jets look like they’re the real deal going forward, but who knows. In my mind, they’re a superior team to the Capitals, and yet Vegas had no trouble cruising past them.

Nashville is still good. Wild aren’t. Blues are a coin flip.

Sharks, Ducks, Kings, Hawks nowhere close.

Do the Oilers finally get it together? Calgary?

Going to be an interesting offseason for the west.

Pittsburgh still looks like the ultimate gatekeeper in the east, at the very least.

The Jets are a better team, I think. And I disagree on the Knights having no trouble 'cruising' past them. The Jets lost because of Fluery. It happens. I am glad for Ovie and Trotz but the Caps won't be out of the second round next year. This year, they got past the Pens (which is a big stumbling block for them in the past) because the Pens won back to back and that's a lot of mileage in a short span, they were gassed. Division and Conf much tougher next year.

Wild and Stars need to make some changes , Blues will never be close, as long as they have no leadership and lack a # 1 center (and center depth) . The Jets and Preds are the best teams in the Central, but the Avs will be getting better,
Pacific - Knights, Oilers and Flames are the 3 teams that are the strongest, I think the Yotes played much better from Feb on and they have some talent , they will be better. Ducks need to make some moves , they have an aging core. I still like the Sharks, they have a good team.
Kings need to make the right decisions of the next few years to re emerge as a strong competitive team.

Idk, man. I think this meme needs to die. It’s far too simplistic of an explanation. MAF’s performance through the first three rounds was no more or less significant than Quick’s in 2012. So unless you’re willing to say Quick “carried” the Kings in the 2012 run, it shouldn’t apply here to MAF and the Knights.

Most of the goals Washington is scoring are a result of backdoor plays or outnumbered rushes. Vegas’s defense is being exposed here, not MAF. Prime Hasek would be losing this series, too.

I agree with your last line but MAF had god like numbers first three rounds, and there is a reason that Quick won the Conn Smythe. The three biggest things that helped LA in 2012 1) Quick was amazing, 2) Depth down the middle (Richards was still good, Stoll was a stud on the 3rd line) 3) Healthy blue line (played the same D the whole way through)

I am sure most of us remember the sick feeling when they showed the ref holding the stick waiting for the measuring device at the penalty box ,no way it was legal and it wasn't even close, f*** mcsorley, he was giving out autographs at a fan fest before opening night in kopi's first home game and my boys waited for it but I just couldn't pretend that I had forgiven him by then lol , took until we had won in 2012 ............................................actually still hate him

From what I understand, multiple guys had curved sticks beyond NHL regulation. They just picked McSorely because he was on the ice at the time. It was a last minute BS attempt on Montreal’s part.

Exactly. 75% of the guys playing in that game could have been penalized for an illegal stick.

And then they changed the rule the following year.

One of the worst calls of all time. But then again, Gretzky’s blatant high stick on Gilmour that year was just as bad. Evens out I guess.

...or the Kings could have nutted up and killed the penalty. Had they done that, the series was there for the taking.
