I guess last night during the game they mentioned that the team that scored first in game 7 won 74% of the time? San Jose and Chicago both scored first on the Kings in 2014 in game 7. Pretty incredible.

Goes to show how resilient those Kings teams were. And the Kings were down 2-0 against Chicago, then it was 3-2, and later 4-3 heading into the 3rd.

Not counting Jones, 9 guys from that team are gone, and the only single ones still playing in the NHL are Williams and Gaborik. The other names are Mitchell, Regehr, Greene, Voynov, Stoll, Richards, and King. Jordan Nolan was also on that team, but he only appeared in 3 playoff games that year.

Sometimes you go to a game and strike up a cordial conversation with an opposing teams fan. It can make for some interesting talk about where they're from, how they got into hockey ect.

In the 2012 cup finals I sat next to a Devils fan. She flew in from Jersey that day just for the game.
You gotta respect this type of fan.

Yeah, and against San Jose we were all still pretty confident they would win that game even though they had fallen behind.

Can't say the same about Chicago. Not for me anyways.

Kings and Rangers series gave me a stroke because the Kings were down 2-0 after the first period of every game it seemed.

So many wrist shots from the point beating goalies in these playoffs. Wish Kings dmen learned to get their shots through and didn't try to blast slap shots all the damn time. Or stand idle and get their shots blocked, which happened often against Vegas.

Wow, what a turnaround in TB. TB thinks they tied it at 1, only to have the nicest goal I've ever seen disallowed by a too many men call called back haha...seconds later, Washington scores right on the faceoff. That went sideways quickly considering there were only seconds left in the 1st.

The too many men call was beyond obvious. Tampa had 5 guys inside the blueline and one guy cherry picking at the redline. They were out there for like 5 seconds completely involved with the play. It would've really sucked if they missed it and Tampa eventually won.

I had a great Bruins fan sit next to me during the 2011/2012 season. We were very cordial and had some laughs, bringing up mutual legends like Joe Corvo. The Bruins won. I said "Good game, dude" And he's like, "Don't worry, man. You have a good team. You'll go far."

He was either very polite or very prescient. Either way, it was cool that the Kings won the cup 3 months later.

Oh it was absolutely the right call, just a huge emotional swing for them

I like the line of Copp-Lowry-Armia.

Nice mix of speed, tenacity and ruggedness.

I don’t know their exact roster breakdown but I’m assuming a good chunk of it was built in house via the draft.

Pretty much, their biggest trade acquisitions are Wheeler and Byfuglien, and they bent Buffalo over in trading the injury prone Bogosian for Myers.

^ Yep, Armia was part of that Wpg/Buffalo deal as well.

Kane also went to the Sabres. I think other components were involved but I can’t recall of the top of my head. Brenden Lemieux maybe?

The full trade was Traded to Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, Joel Armia, Brendan Lemieux and St. Louis' 1st round pick (previously acquired, Winnipeg selected Jack Roslovic) in 2015 NHL Draft for Evander Kane, Zach Bogosian and Jason Kasdorf.

Scary thing about this Jets team is how young they are.

They are going to have the best roster in the West for atleast the next five years and the team that overtakes them will be one that went through a complete rebuild. That is why, if the goal is to win championships the Kings need to start over.

The black hole teams like the Kings, Ducks, Sharks, Hawks, Wild just aren’t close.

They’re gonna have to pay Laine, Connor, Trouba, Hellebuyck, and Morrissey over the next 2 years. Wheeler is also a UFA at the end of next year.

Ehlers $6 million per deal kicks in next year, up from his current $895k.

Little and Perreault account for about 9 million in cap space over the next 4 years,

Gonna be a challenge to maintain that roster.

They will probably let Wheeler walk at the end of next year vs paying him 8-10 mill a year. He will be 33 when that next contract kicks in.

They will still have the best roster in the league even without him. Laine is going to be an automatic 50-60 goals a year for the next decade.

Losing Wheeler, if they let him walk, will be a huge loss. He’s gotten better with age and brings so many different intangibles to the club each night. Heart and soul of the Jets. Just an excellent all around player.

Depends on how that cap works out over the next few years but the Jets will still have to manipulate the roster kind of like the Hawks did when they dealt guys like Big Buff, Versteeg, Bolland.

Should be interesting to see how they approach it over the next couple seasons.
