Man Toronto looks ridiculously bad tonight. Vanek is having an incredible night though, he is creating things all over the ice for the Panthers.

Keith Jones, who was on the ice when the Flyers beat the Pens in a 2000 playoff game in the 5th overtime (and 8 more min would have been 6) said they not only ate the protein bars but all the post game food they'd ordered, including all the pizza and lots of water and fruit drinks.
Brian Boucher was in goal that night and said he lost so much water when he went to kick his legs to make a save, they 'swooshed' because his boots were water logged.
I stayed to 245 am to watch that game (and had work the next morning) they'd show the fans who were still there, a lot of them were asleep. And the concessions ran out of stuff as well.

I remember being at the longest OT game in AHL history back in the early 2000's when Hamilton played Houston in the Calder Cup Finals. I think the game went into the 5th OT when Michael Ryder ended it. The final shots were in the low 80's for each club. Jarret Stoll was a part of the Bulldogs club.

The players were eating pizza and oranges during each intermission. It was a long evening. Game started at 7pm and ended at just after 1am.

I still remember the Isles/Caps OT in 1987 when LaFontaine scored. At that time I believe it was the 3rd or 4th longest OT game in NHL history. I was just a little guy back then and I fell asleep after the 1st OT only for my old man to wake me up after the game had ended.

Too much fishing. Babcock gave them an extra day off and they looked like they were still on vacation.

That's amazing  was that the Keith Primeau goal one?

Yes, and a nice wrist shot coming down the right side, cut over did a deke and wristed it. A good shot, not some fluke goal that you'd expect after that long I remember players from both sides saying how short the shifts had to be because they said you had no legs. And something the announcer mentions in this clip, the players were so beat they had a hard time getting their legs over the boards at the end of shifts

goal at the 2:40 mark

Depends, do you define sweep as lose two in OT and one in regulation? If so, yeah the Kings are gonna sweep.

At least they will pick up the all important two points needed to delay mathematical elimination.

Friedman's "30 Thoughts" had some good stuff as usual but I really enjoyed the video piece on Bryan Bickell. Really pulling for the guy, such a feel good story regarding his comeback.

"17. Bryan Bickell has three assists in six games with AHL Charlotte as he begins his comeback following a Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis. He’s an unrestricted free agent after the season. The Hurricanes plan to give him a game or two at the NHL level before this season concludes. There isn’t a person in hockey rooting against him."

From Friedman's 30 Thoughts, re: the forever long game in Norway:

"What stood out most about the experience? “It’s hard to describe, you’re just trying to survive at that point. A lot of fruit was available, bread…peanut batter and jam, protein bars, sports drinks. But by the fifth overtime, I needed more. I ate three slices of pizza. I never do that. Ever.†"

Just saw this and noticed it was Joey Tenute in the video. If I bump into him this summer, I will have to ask him about it. That is surreal.

More importantly, 75kg of sausage was sold during the game.

Sorry if this is a bit off-topic, didn't see a more relevant thread.

Was there any discussion about seeking supplemental discipline (or any discipline) on the Reaves elbow to Iginla? I thought it was a (maybe unintentional) dirty play which should have been addressed. I also was surprised the concussion spotters didn't take Iginla for evaluation, as he was pretty woozy going to the bench afterward.

I was surprised nothing really came of the incident.

That game always makes me laugh. I was a sophomore in college and came home from class. I walked past my roommate's door and he was watching the game.

"Holy crap, that game is still on?" -- me
"Yeah, I've been glued to it for a few hours." -- roommate, not a Pens/Flyers fan

He turned away from his TV to talk with me which was precisely when Primeau scored. I don't think I can adequately describe the look on his face. It was like partial disappointment since he missed the goal and partial restraint in not being mad at me for distracting him.

Not a peep.

Rarely do teams get a second look vs. the Kings.

Given how they performed against St. Louis and Arizona, we'd be fools to think this team will look any different tomorrow night.

I really don't know what keeps them motivated at this point.

Havent seen any motivation all season and don't see why they'd start now

Ah, the days before DVR, a roommate interrupting at an inopportune time put a strain on the roommate relations.

A must win game versus a basement team? Sounds like a sure loss.

if the kings win then it increases slim chance of playoffs. If they lose maybe it allows Buffalo to catch LA getting LA a better draft pick. Win/Win.

I am hoping for all eastern teams below LA in the event LA misses

I haven't looked at the standings in a while. These upcoming games against Edmonton are shaping up to be bigger than I expected.
