We were right there
It's about that time where we get unreasonably mad at teams in the playoff race. Just thinking again about the WIld losing to the Blues last night
Lots of selective memories on this board.
I can vividly remember a thread started around February (It's over) in 2012.
Give me a break.
I'm sorry but LA is gonna have to get help.
I get the sentiment here but lot of people need to remove sticks from their collective *****.
It's a damn sport. Be a fan. You don't have to be rah rah, but at least support your team.
How many people would have said in 12 or 14. Just forget the playoffs, let's go for the pick.
The irony of course, is I believe author of that thread is said pessimist a few posts up....(though if it is a vivid memory you may be acting a little more subtly than me)
Mike Milbury is an embarrassment. Wants the shootout in the playoffs as well as the 3 on 3 format. Then he talked about seeding for the conference finals to be based on points so an eastern conference team can play in the western conference finals? What a joke.
There's an interesting discussion on the Montreal Canadiens board comparing their GM Bergevin to our GM Dean Lombardi. Someone called Jeff Carter the best trade deadline acquisition in the past decade.

Well, at least the Penguins did us a solid in beating the Jets.
No pressure or anything. That's former Kings prospect (and 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-round 2013 pick) Valentin Zykov.
Without question Dean's most important trade.
If the Kings don't get Carter in 2012 they miss the playoffs, Dean is fired, Sutter is a footnote in team history and there are probably zero cups.
Call it how I see it. Nothing this team has done in past month, where they should be playing their most desperate hockey, has made me confident they will make a push.

Is it considered spam or baiting if I bring up that he's apparently not another bust and the scouts know what they're doing? Or is it too soon?
If he's not a bust then it is another example of horrific asset management.
Trade up to get him. Then trade him for ****ing Kris Versteeg.
Yep...Kris Versteeg is all that team needed to win a Cup hahahaha.
No doubt that the Kings as of recent years have been wildly inconsistent...some days looking like a lottery team, the next game looking like a dynasty team. Problem is, this year, they have been surprisingly consistent....consistently bad.
After the loss to VAN, I predicted they are done and will never see the top 8 again this season. Sorry, they just suck.

Didn't know appearing in a single NHL game counts as a success. I guess the team should practice your same approach by lowering standards.
Zykov has 100 games of AHL experience, scoring 22 goals and 44 points, and is being called up on a depleted non-playoff team.
Meanwhile, one of those picks the Kings dealt in order to move up to select Zykov turned into Anton Slepyshev.
I'm sure the scouting staff is uncorking bottles of champagne today to celebrate Zykov's NHL arrival.
So what will you require before he is considered a success?

Zykov has 30 point in 55 games in the AHL. Not exactly setting the world on fire. Jordan Staal and top line do not belong in the same sentence.
That's asset management, that is on DL , as Weal and Miller were and SUtter. DL has a certain vision of what he wants in a player/forward and neither Weal or Zykov apparently are it.
And that was an another awful trade. Versteeg??? Giving up a top prospect who you never gave a chance to play in the NHL for a 2 mos rental 3rd liner?
Hopefully he's learned his lesson.
PJ Kings Hockey;129282455[B said:]I don't mind trading Weal because he was never going to play on a Sutter team. [/B] Vinny was an asset, albeit a temporary one. But did we have to give up a 3rd?
I agree on Miller because we never had much of a chance to resign Lucic, but a trading a fifth-round D who had a higher value because of his play during the Calder Cup championship run, when we were strong on D? I get that. But giving up a 1st and Jones? Oof.
Trading away Zykov and a pick for a rental Sutter didn't even like to play? When we're weak on forwards? Another oof.
