The Kings' playoff fate really is in their hands. If they fail to get in, some heads will roll.

Around here, heads are already chopped off and rolling every which way, Ziggy. If we fail to get in, bodies are going to spontaneously combust. Blues fans know their team isn't contending this year.

Go Kings! **** the Blues

I'm convinced now that Jeff Marek of Sportsnet hates the Kings and their slow style of play. All I heard was the Leafs speed, speed speed, speed and LA slow slow slow slow. Yet, as one of the other guys put it "should've blown them out" but lost the game. He was downright bummed they lost to such a slow team.::cry:

I swear that "speed" is the latest buzzword in hockey, as if you have the faster team you automatically have the upper hand, let's just look past a hundred other aspects of the game.

Kris Versteeg has 11 goals and 24 points. Still upset we didn't re-sign him when nobody wanted him. Instead, we go after Purcell when Versteeg was still available.

****.

The Ducks don't seem to be having any problems against Toronto's speed. They're leading 4-2. They aggressively attack the net, like the Kings of yesteryear used to do.

The Blues are not a good hockey team.

The slight bump from the coaching change, only lasted a little. I actually think the Av's could be beat the Blues.

The Ducks weren't playing their 3rd game in 4 nights in 3 different time zones either. Yeah, they came out of the gate badly but let's give the kings some credit for taking the game over in the 3rd.

I hope you're right because they have 3 more with the Av's (and 3 with the yotes).

Once the Kings adjusted after the first 10 min, they didn't have the same issues and controlled the game at times. Proves that speed doesn't always win you game. I swear Babcock put 4 across the blueline preventing our zone entries at times to slow us down.

Was hoping for the Ducks to lose, but the tears in Toronto aren't all that bad.

A little concerned about Winnipeg. They play Colorado tomorrow and aren't that far back.

You can cut those numbers by more than half on this team. Better than Purcell yes but wouldn't have produced.

Amen. People can call the Kings boring all they want, but we're not boring vs. aggressive teams, we're boring against teams who combat our control game by only sending one forechecker then sinking all their guys back to the blue line. Of course, then we play dump and chase ad nauseum because there's no way to beat that, rinse, repeat.

Also a lot of the canadian media butt hurt about the Kings style want the game to be pond hockey because they have the luxury of infinity #1 picks in a row to play a chance trading game.

Kings need the revenue from 2 home playoff games to pay a few games of Kopitar's salary.

I hope we don't see the Kings return to the mentality of just make the playoffs and anything can happen which existed before Lombardi arrived.

Eddie Lack is what he is, and the fault here is not on him as much as the GM who didn't give the coach adequate #2 tender goaltending. Lack and Leighton...awful.
You want to bury somebody and sling razors, how about putting that out to the media, that your starter is good but overplaying all year because your GM didn't give him support.

So when I saw Elliotte Friedman's comment :

Wow.
Elliotte Friedman Retweeted Ryan Henderson

on post game remarks (at the end, the 5:24 mark) by the coach on Eddie Lack, I took a listen. the 'Wow' is right. I have never believed in torching you own player to the media, whether it be one reporter or a roomful. Do that in your office with the player, on at practice, or even the room. Lost a lot of respect for Peters. And it's like he's not made any mistakes that cost them.

I'd love to see their budget for this season in particular, too, given Kopi's contract and the 50th anniversary stuff. I'm sure they expected to take a beating regardless but I agree they probably want/need playoff revenue and that I'm a little concerned we might see that "don't care what you do as long as you don't miss the playoffs" thing seep back in.

Laine has the best arsenal of shots I've seen in the NHL since Brett Hull. Just scary to think that this guy will do in his prime.

The Jets are making their way into the playoff race. After they win today, they'll have 66 points.
