Weal's a UFA this summer, right? Playing for a contract. I'm rooting for him.

Playing-wise, meh. OTOH, More leadership added to the Habs locker room. You can see they're changing the personality of the team.

Weal- yes. and I'm rooting for him too. He should have been on the roster before now, instead of Weiss or Vandevelde. Hexy has a lot of expiring contract but I am hoping Weal is one he gets done, I think his speed and soft hands are a good fit for young team.

Ott- have never been a fan, really dislike him. But he is the kind of annoying SOB that the Habs do not have.

I remember seeing Backes near tears when telling a story about Ott's unselfishness. I think I also heard another locker-room story about Ott from a Red Wings player. He's just an annoying player on the ice.

They've got Shaw.

Bishop looks good, not too surprising for someone who made it to the SCF. Chicago's last 10, 9-1-0, crazy. And they picked up Oduya. Even if Kings make the playoffs, I don't see them getting out of the conference. Even with a hot Gaborik/Koitar. And then you got Washington that's ridiculously stacked, if they can somehow just show up to play in playoff games.

So I guess we should just give up?

Upset happen all the time in the playoffs. I've heard many times that "this is [insert team name]'s year - no way anyone beats them" and they lose in the first round.
Just get in the playoffs, and we'll see what happens.

Had no idea how bad it looked as far as the Blues games left.

20 games left, 7 total vs. Col (4) and Ari (3). Only 6 vs. playoff teams.

Kings 19 games left, 13 vs. playoff teams.

Honestly, Nashville has 5 of their next 7 on the road and will probably be an underdog in 6 of those 7 games, maybe hoping for a Nashville collapse is more realistic.

Either way, Kings need to go 5-2 or at minimum 4-2-1 with points vs. the right teams on this homestand to have a chance.

I's say Andrew Shaw is a pretty annoying **** ant. Those two together should drive teams nuts.

Another strong game for Weal, 16 min TOI, 4 SOG's and potted a sweet goal in the shootout to help the Flyers to 2-1 win over the panthers. He was all over the place, hustling and driving the net. He's got good speed and good hands.

Good game by both teams, Bobby Lu left game after 1st and Reimer came in cold and was outstanding. Mason was the only reason it went to OT. 89 SOG between the two teams.

Ekblad with 9 SOG's and 24 TOI, head to believe at times he's only 21. So mature, still learning the toughest position to master. His 204 SOG's this year are 2nd in the NHL for defenseman to Burns. He scored the Cats only goal , a shorthanded beauty, courtesy of a horrid giveaway pass by Giroux.

We need WPG (vs Blues) and DET (@ Calgary) to win tonight, boys.

Don't like that STL has two games in hand on us, but after tonight we'll have a game in hand on Calgary. We have three left against Calgary (only one at Staples) and one left with STL (@ Staples).

Happy to hear that Weal scored in the shootout and I'm surprised they put him in. I remember a preseason game against the Avalanche when Tanner Pearson told Sutter to put Weal in the shootout and Weal scored to win the game. When's Konecny coming back? I read that after Mark Streit got traded they made Bellemare an assistant captain. Didn't realize he was French and came over as a 29-year-old rookie.

P.K. Subban's return kind of took away some of the thunder from Dwight King's debut. ;)

Budaj to make his Tampa debut today vs. the Penguins. Go Buds!

Barely a GDT thread going on for the Islander game in the Stars forum. But that Faksa rail.

 that was pretty sweet. Literally never seen anything like it in hockey. Can only imagine how many people are going to try that and fail in beer league.

Yep, but still hold our own fates in our own hands imo. Those three games vs. Calgary would theoretically place us even with them. But like I said before, 6 wins in 7 home games would go a whole long way towards confidence as well as the mathematics of it all. Having to bust our ***** to get in is different than falling face first in.

Agreed, Rocky, and it is a bit disconcerting seeing our guys play as listless as they have. There's times where they seem to just stop trying. I will say, with Quickie back, and Bishop backing, we have shown a little more finish.

Quickie is, no doubt, galvanizing this club to a certain degree. Those three games against Calgary are key, but in the spirit of your post, pointless if we don't produce against the other teams.

It would be nice to get some help from the other clubs, tho.

I think the Blues, are actually not that great a team. They have more holes than the Kings if you ask me.

Their bottom six is a mess, lack center depth big time, and their defense/goal tending is sub-par.

Blues do have a wild card though, Tarasenko, if he goes bonkers, he can carry that team.

The Jets are generating all kinds of scoring chances against them right now. Blues are lucky it's only 1-0.
