There are very few reasons I would be okay with Lombardi acquiring a goalie:
1) if it's to dump a bad contract, like Gaborik for Miller swap.
2) if it's a package for something else the Kings need, like acquiring a good pick/prospect + the goalie.

So, in your eyes Dean blew it on this one, right?

Justin Faulk of Carolina reportedly on the block. Make sense for #Oilers?

http://edmontonjournal.com/sports/h...block-does-he-make-sense-for-edmonton-oilers/ … by @dstaples

Yes, he does, IMO. I've been reading that RNH is movable. And Canes have been trying to use Faulk as part of a package to get a top center, Avs still holding out for more. Maybe Canes should move on, RNH would be a good fit there. And Faulk would be a good fit for the Oilers, a good young D, and can QB a PP, 3 more yrs at 4.8M is good.

RNH is too good to be on the 3rd line, so moving him has been on the Oilers radar.
with the young talent on wing in CArolina, You put RNH on that top line with Aho (who I think is stud in the making) and Lindholm, and he'd thrive.

Wow. Justin Faulk was Carolina's Doughty, although not quite as good defensively. Hard to believe that they would trade him. Too bad the Kings don't have the right pieces.

I hope Edmonton doesn't get Faulk, because he'll be scoring power play goals against the Kings a million times a year.

Craig Anderson in six games since returning from 68-day layoff:
4-2-0 record
1.84 GAA
.947 save pct

Good for him, he deserves it after the emotional upheaval he had with his wife's cancer battle.
Good for the Sens...2 pts out of 1st place with 2 games at hand. And they will be active on Wens...

We have acquired Byron Froese and a 2017 second-round pick from the @mapleleafs in exchange for Brian Boyle.

Good pickup for the Leafs, he's the center depth they needed, great veteran presence in a very young locker room with the playoffs approaching..

and Burrows to Ottawa

I wonder if the Leafs move out Bozak now. Boyle can slot nicely into the 3rd line centre spot.

I don't mind Jordie Benn. I liked Pateryn when he played in Hamilton (AHL) but not so much since graduating to the Habs. Dallas grabs a pick out of it so good move for them in that regard.

Burrows dealt and then signed to a two year deal. Yuck. Glad he's out of the west.

Kind of like the deal for Ottawa. They have a handful of UFA's, and sounds like MacArthur and his $4.7m cap hit might be done one way or another. Burrows might find a new life with a more competitive Sens team than the Canucks. If he's around 10-15 goals and 30ish points, plus plays with any sort of an edge, $2.5m isn't that bad. That 2nd year on the contract might not help, but, they might have to take as many shots as they can while Karlsson is A) still there, and 2) relatively cheap.

I like Burrows for Ottawa because he's a pain in the ass and should be rejuvenated, but Dahlen was a lot to give up imo.

I don't get why team re-sign guys before they play. Ever since Dan Cloutier I have been nervous

Looks like Burrows had a NTC with Vancouver, so I'm guessing to get him, Ottawa had to give him $5m. If they wanted him that much, then you do what you gotta do. Like with anything else, if it works, it's a great move. If it doesn't, then nobody will know what Ottawa was thinking doing such a crazy thing.

Bob McKenzie saying that the Bolts have asked Filppula (1 yr left, 5M) about waiving his NMC for one of the 13 teams on this NMC list.
Bolts need to move $$ out, Stevie Y busy working that calculator.

Don't forget, not just about re-upping Johnson, Palat and Drouin plus new deal for Hedman kicks in; but also about finding top-4 D-man...

You have to wonder if JOhnson will test the FA waters, depending on how much the Bolts can afford to offer, given the CAP crunch. Or if they feel Drouin won't sign , they move him tomorrow.

Hearing TOR would like to do more. Curious to see if TOR can use cap space/LTIR cushion to take on contract and get premium for doing so.
