Keeping an eye on goals against the ducks. Right now they are in first and we are in second with a total difference of 4 goals. Kings have allowed 189 and the ducks 185. That's a difference if 2.33 gaa to the ducks 2.31.

Like to see them lit up in the next 2 if possible.

It's this exactly. People on here will talk about Doughty's game, will make post upon post about it, and then let it slip later on that they've seen him play maybe one or two times this year. They're stat watching. And playing good defense is the one aspect of the game that is the least measurable. And the most easily misunderstood/hardest to understand.

The biggest ******** argument that gets perpetuated as well: that defense is a team stat and offense is individual one. Individual defensive impact is JUST as influential as individual offensive impact.

It's the beef I have with analytics right now, too. People pretend they capture everything when they don't even come close. Goal prevention metrics don't exist (and I"m not sure they CAN or SHOULD). Shot suppression isn't goal suppression either, obviously, especially when one gives up less shots but MANY MANY MORE high danger scoring opportunities AND goals. Corsi is a nice possession proxy, but doesn't capture the times Doughty decides to not advance the puck immediately and instead patiently waits for the play to develop while shedding a couple of forecheckers. Instead, we just hear that defense is a team stat, PP scoring is a team stat, etc. And it's maddening because it's propogated by the advanced stats community that has simply stagnated at Corsi Rel, feeding the chaos. I'm just glad that McKenzie article came out because it helps illuminate that people on the inside realize both 1. the individual contribution to great defense on a great defensive team one can have and 2. one shouldn't be 'punished' for being on a great team via relative stats and that instead the folks leading that charge should be recognized and lauded. They seem to recognize that it's important to be doing great things on a great team rather than how Dean Lombardi criticized Mike Cammalleri saying something to the effect of he'll be a great scorer on bad teams for his whole career (and outside of one playoff run he's been 100 percent right).

No surprise but the Avs can't get out of their own end.

Top-3 possession team vs. bottom possession team in history looks exactly as it should

Ducks called up FIVE players from the Gulls today, three of whom are playing for the Ducks in the Colorado game going on right now. Looking ahead to avoid tired legs tomorrow?

You need to look at the standings not the stats page for that number. On the stats page they take out the shootout goals.

Nah, I think they'll play them tomorrow, too. I'm sure they're keeping an eye on their health/energy levels and just letting the chips fall where they may. No 'easy' matchups, they have home ice, just play it out.

I'm watching this game and the Avs are just hapless. They're last year's Flames without the stretch pass. Just hold on for dear life and pray to get a break with your skilled forwards.

And Boston's collapse is complete, with the Flyers' empty-netter putting the final dagger into the Bruins' back.

For whatever reason he had to include that he spent some time in LA before he went to Philadelphia. Philly being the place with the best fans in the world according to the Wayne Train.

That's a nothing comment really. Because according to every player on every team in every sport they have the best fans.

Wayne is just bitter.

The year he was traded Kings win a Cup and the two seasons after, go on to win another Cup and make it to the WCF. While he's stuck on a bubble/non playoff team.

Meh, whatever, Simmonds got traded and sat at home while his former team lifted two cups.

I take back what I said earlier.

Ducks telecast referenced an earlier convo with Bruce who said he wants to keep the pressure on LA, all the big guys are still getting big minutes. So they're still playing for keeps.

Colorado with no finish but they're controlling which is crazy

hahahah naturally Ducks score, what garbage.

I really really wish we could get and afford Tyson Barrie as our Voynov replacement
