Who is that Dman? Sure, in the abstract, you'd take a top 4 Dman over a top 2 line winger, but who would it have been?

I think he means going into next year. As in instead of spending the $$ on lucic it should be spent on D.

Maybe Yandle? I don't know who all would be available. The issue for me is then who do you protect for expansion draft. If you can only protect 4 Doughty, Muzzin, A-mart would be three, is that last spot the new guy or McNabb. I guess it depends who comes in and where McNabb's development is (obviously Yandle>>McNabb)

Can someone explain to me how St. Louis ended up short handed after Crawford went ape ****? Fabbri looked like he tried to avoid contact but they still gave him goalie interference. Even then though Crawford's penalty should have matched that off..I would have though they should have got the PP, but at the very least everything should have offset no? To make matters worse Chicago then scored on the PP to put them up at the time. Had the hawks won I imagine there would have been a lot of pissed off Blues fans.

Thankfully the hockey Gods prevailed. Toews took two different Blues players out in that scrum and got no penalty. That was the injustice.

Probably because Shaw apparently said something he shouldn't have...

Like there was any doubt left that Shaw is dog ****.

this! Really was glad to see the Hawks lose him causing them to be a man short at the end. Go Blues

Lombardi loves Yandle and my money would be on DL moving pieces if he has to , to accomodate. As the top ranked FA, Yandle will get $$$$.

but after him, slim pickins'...unless he trades for one.

Dallas blueliner Alex Goligoski could be a Plan B for clubs who miss out on Yandle in July, but the list of available defensemen is populated more with veteran stop-gap options (Brian Campbell, Dan Hamhuis, John-Michael Liles, Christian Ehrhoff) than viable options under 30 (Luke Schenn, Jason Demers, Roman Polak, Kris Russell).

He knows what he said, and he'd be completely ****ed if he admitted it now.

He won't need to admit it, if an official heard it, that's all that's necessary. Plus you could read his lips on TV. It was pretty evident and he most definitely should get suspended a game for it, although I like Steen's spear-him-in-the-crotch idea if the entire Blues team could participate.

what do you think about mason not starting tonight? The team hung him out to dry last game and now he is getting benched. I get that coach needs to try and spark the club, but do you worry about what this does to the long term confidence of Mason?

Team's been hanging him out to dry on most nights, including just about every game since Feb/March.

Mason's been on fumes since midway thru game 1. Neuvirth's injury in early March changed things for him, and a lot of pressure to 'win every game' to get in the playoffs. He hurt his knee with a few games left and I'm sure not sure he's 100%.

My take, he's mentally worn down and if not for him, this team would have and should have been toast in Feb. He saved their unskilled butts way too many times and got them 2 pts on nights they didn't deserve it.

I think they'll trade him to save the money under the CAP and I'd sign Neuvirth to 2 yr deal and let Stolarz back him up, but we'll see.

I would have started him, I think he deserves it , given he's the reason they're here. But I think they, like that inevitable hockey cliche' want to 'shake things up'.
It won't matter, I can't see the Flyers getting a sniff and agree with Weber's take (which is what most smart vet players in this situation will do, look for Richards to be in full warrior mode, agitating every Flyer he can find, he's done this dozens of times)

Shaw is a piece of trash and the Hawks aren't going to do **** to discipline him outside this saving face PR move

NHL will toss him a fine of some tiny amount and they'll "team up" to do something or rather for charity and blah blah blah

i'm real over the Hawks, this notion of being above the rules is not just from the players, it's pretty clear the organization as a whole doesn't really care to do much to actually deal with their numerous personnel issues

Hawks are done anyway, like I suspected before the series started. They've just played too much hockey for a team to not be worn down.

Wouldn't mind Goligoski on the Kings if we couldn't land Yandle. Its a shame DL wasn't able to acquire Boychuk or Niskanen when they were available...

plus they do not have the depth they have had in years past. I thought ladd was going to be a better fit in there then he is.

I would, Goligoski is absolute garbage defensively.

Gives up more high danger scoring chances than anyone in the league by a significant amount and that includes more than EK. Matches the eye test, too. He's a glorified Jack Johnson. For the pricetag he'll command, no thank you.

Chicago's depth on D reminds me or us this year, 3 guys to rely on and it gets shaky after that. I thought Ladd would be playing better for them as well, but he hasn't gelled it seems.

Goligoski would at least make a serviceable #4, and with Sutter's system he would be taking far fewer risks offensively. He'd be an upgrade over Schenn, McNabb and Scuderi.

rather have Hamhuis, Campbell or Demers (in no order) than Goligoski

Hamhuis yea, I worry Campbell might be too old, but he was great in his prime. No thanks to Demers.

The problem is a lot of guys out there are only marginal upgrades on, say, mcNabb/Gravel but for a whole lot more money. Unless someone like Campbell is willing to takea large discount (not sure he fits our 'style' anyway but he's steady) it's pointless.
