hurts my fantasy team...I was losing anyway

That injury gets me three different ways:

1) Had Schneider in my Yahoo league. Might not be ready for the playoffs.

2) I have backup Keith Kinkaid in a different dynasty league where I can stash a prospect goalie with less than 40 NHL games on my protected list. Kinkaid probably would have stayed south of 40, but now will cross that threshold as the de facto starter. Since our league is 27 teams, somebody will probably poach Kinkaid off my roster. Not a huge loss, but having a third NHL goalie is a nice luxury.

3) I learned last year that my brother-in-law in Newport Beach knows Schneider's father-in-law. I was hoping to parlay that into a meet and greet when they played Anaheim. But I'm assuming Schneider is staying back to recuperate, so I'll have to wait until next season for that.

Cory Schneider strained his MCL and will be out at least a couple weeks. Devils will be doing their California trip this week and have looked mostly in disarray the last month.

Well that pretty much sucks for us. You know how we do against back-ups. We gettin shut out! :sarcasm: Again!

We might have to if/when the NHL does. We usually end up having a team or two freed up every offseason. Definitely not a league for those who need instant gratification, but fun to role play as a pseudo-GM. Just wish there was a way to simulate free agency in our league.

The league actually started with a bunch of random folks on HF circa 1999. There's been some turnover, but there's been a good core of about 15 throughout the years.

That's amazing. I wish we did that for hockey; I'm in a football league that's been running that long but I'm definitely not as into that as I have been fantasy hockey when I do.

Brutal. Schneider is the man. I still think he's the most underrated player in the league.

No way man, the guy is proclaimed the 2nd coming everywhere. Most people thing he's already stolen Quick's USA spot and he's getting acclaim as a top-3 goalie (but not a system goalie even though the Devils play the biggest shot suppression game in the league, funny how that works).

Are Jarrett Stoll and Erin Andrews still together? If so, Jarrett has got to be happy, with a jury awarding her $55 million in her civil case.

Eh, more like 27mil since that's the half the Hotel has to pay. The stalker doesn't have the other half I doubt.

Didn't mean to imply she'll collect it all. The judge will likely reduce the award as well. Then it will probably settle for less while on appeal.

My understanding from reading some of the articles is that there is a Tenn law called joint and several liability. Meaning, the if the Marriott was, lets say, 10% at fault (they were 49%), they could technically still have to pay the entire $55 million. But I think they have to appeal in order for the judge to overturn his decision to split it 49/51.

Every Canadian team is in the bottom ten of the standings. They also occupy the four worst records.

Does that mean the Canadian TV ratings for the draft will be off the charts?

Kinda feel sorry for A Matthews - he better hope he doesn't go to EDM (talent killers) or MTL/TOR/VAN (ridiculous media scrutiny).

Under the old clumsy regime, I agree, but with the new staff in place, I think those days are behind them.

We all know the Leafs will win the lottery, the fix will be in. :sarcasm:

Looking at the standings, this year is far more spaced as far as points compared to what we've seen recently.

It's a very obvious 9 team race in the West for the playoffs. Well, more like a two team race for the last spot. The top 7 are essentially in, with Minnesota and Colorado fighting for the 8th spot. In recent years there have been 3-5 teams fighting for the last couple spots up until the last weeks of the season. It's been a long time since the playoff teams were essentially set in the West with a month left.

The East isn't that different, although it's a little tighter with 3 teams fighting for the bottom 2 spots. It's conceivable that Carolina, NJ, or Ottawa could go on a tear and sneak in, but it's less and less unlikely with each game that is played. Ottawa is probably the best bet as they are trending upwards, but even with their solid play lately they've only gained 3 points on Detroit and have actually lost ground to Philadelphia.

Weird how the extra point isn't doing much to keep teams in it this year, rather it's keeping them spaced out.
