not to mention SJS has a better candidate in Vlasic.

Burns is proof people are blinded at points. He's an impact player don't get me wrong, but his weaknesses are exactly the same as EK.

Yea, he gets Burnsed positionally rather frequently.

I'd love Burns on the Kings, but as a winger. He'd be unstoppable up front in our system. I always thought he caused us more problems up front than on the blueline.

Dude is quite literally a converted forward playing D. I have never been impressed with the guy as a defenseman. As a forward, yes. Defender? No.

It's not only 5 points out. It's 5 points out with every team they are chasing having 2-3 games in hand. Along with being behind in ROW. They have 25 and every team they are chasing has 29 or more.

Luckily there's historical precedent for that with Mike Green, but Burns benefits from NOT being under the microscope in that regard. Same as OEL.

But he also suffers from the same affliction as Doughty. He plays in a time zone that is not eastern. So we can't be bothered to actually watch games.

I think that's the point - since no one east of like Vegas actually watches Burns play, they won't see anything but the numbers from NHL.com, which makes him look a lot better than his actual on-ice play as a defenseman often is. Whereas with Doughty it's the complete opposite - to really get WHY he's widely considered the best or one of the best D in the league, you have to watch him play.

Only 3 players have won a Norris Trophy that were a minus player, one being Rob Blake. The one thing they all had in common, their teams made the playoffs.

That's the funny thing. To see the surprise at how good Doughty is from the folks who rarely watch him when the Playoffs or Olympics comes around and they're pretty much forced to watch. Every single time. But when it's not best on best tournament time, best to just read box scores instead for a fair evaluation.
