is it possible that Arizona finishes ahead of San Jose, Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton? i don't think it's a stretch

our division is pretty weak, i'm not seeing a case made by any of these teams that they are worthier of the 3rd spot

Arizona has as good of a chance as any

Looking at the clock, were Getzlaf and Perry out there for a 1:15 shift for 3 on 3 ? The guy looked gassed the moment he turned it over.

My favorite Getz reaction was when he celebrated Gaborik's goal in Game 1. I guess he wasn't used to the Pond being full of fans. Unfortunately for him they were rooting for the Kings.

You make an interesting point. It is a weak division, but in the end I think the kids are going to cool off and it will come down to goaltending, as it always does. The Sharks are simply better than the Coyotes and I think the Alberta teams bring up the rear. Right now I envision the Kings looking up at the Ducks in second place but ahead of the Sharks, who edge out the Canucks. Same as it ever was. Hopefully the Kings fight for that division title but we all know the Ducks are going to be there in the end (probably). They are, after all, the champions of the regular season.

Flawless speech by Lidstrom, of course. His greatness on the ice only surpassed by his class off of it.

This.

Hall of Fame last night.

Holy ****, BB is really unhappy with the effort of his team. The good stuff really starts at the 1:00 mark. LOL at his remark about the drop pass.

Unpopular opinion because of the general state of their prospects and roster, but I'm gonna put a good amount of blame on Bob Murray, too. Don't get me wrong, Boudreau has to wear some of it, and Getzlaf and Perry need to be better, but for a roster that had a ridiculous 1-goal game record, making a few clear downgrades wrecks that. Palmieri gone for who? Beleskey gone for Stewart. Bieksa brought in. Kesler now comfortable with a massive contract. Murray made a bunch of changes for the sake of change and the Ducks are slightly worse but also still jelling. They might be in even worse shape if Andersen hadn't been god mode most nights, can't imagine the roster having to also weather goaltending questions.

They're set for the future if he doesn't **** it up with crappy contracts, but only if Perry and Getzlaf can carry the mail.

I'm glad the Ducks have Bieksa and Kesler. It makes them so easy to hate (both the players and the team).

I still think they are going to pull it together and win like 10 in a row but I'm not really scared about that team in the playoffs. I think they were a better team last year and they couldn't get it done. I don't know why the GM went and made some of the moves he made. A head scratcher to me was the Smith Pelly for Sekac trade. Smith Pelly seemed like a perfect bottom sixer and I'm not sure what they see in Sekac.

Looks popular to me.

Ducks look clearly worse this year even on paper, before you even get into the "unsustainable" talk thats been floating around for a couple seasons now. I agree, I think a lot of that is on the GM.

I mean blaming the GM rather than the coaching; most people are piling on Boudreau.

Right. And I think the Ducks defied the 'unsustainable' talk for a while, but you can't change massive parts of your team and hope for the same result--it's why I think we're going to struggle more in the playoffs without (past versions, obviously) guys like Stoll, Mitchell, and so on: we lost a big part of our identity with those guys. Not comparing Palmieri to Mitchell, but I think you get what I'm saying.

Oh dont get me wrong, I accept everything.

Personally I never had a problem with that organization, probably because Im not from that area.

The hatred against the Kings, the logo, Hayward and some annoying fans around here who always pop up just to annoy....have changed my mind.

I'm glad that Palmieri, Beleskey and Bonino are all gone. Those guys always showed up against the Kings, and showed up in general in the bigger games. They grew with the Ducks, they had that identity, that so-called tattoo that DL loves to talk about.

I get the whole internal cap thing, but those guys are the types you don't get rid of. I know NHL players are professionals and all, but guys who come up with an organization will have that extra drive to win that established guys coming in don't always have. You can call it hindsight, blah blah etc., but most Kings fans knew exactly what the Ducks were getting with Kesler and Bieksa, and knew well that it was highly unlikely that those guys were going to get them to the next level.

I actually thought Kesler > Bonino, but getting rid of Beauch and replacing him with Bieksa was a massive downgrade. Also agree Palmieri and Beleskey (and Smith - Pelly) had jam that hasn't been replaced.

For all the complaining that Kings fans do about Clifford, Lewis, King, etc -- those guys help establish identity for the team.

In large part the ducks fans here are nothing compared to what you see out in the arena. It's hundred times worse.

I really don't think Murray was in the room when that Kesler deal was negotiated and signed.

Doug Armstrong names Gallagher, Muzzin, Stone and Toffoli as players jumping into Team Canada's radar.

For Team USA, Lombardi declined to give names, but says his group is looking at some "turnover."

Peter Chiarelli says the 23-and-under World Cup team asked the NHL about carrying an older goalie. The answer was no.

That won't be easy, 23 and under since most goalies don't really develop or get significant NHL time /minutes at age 23 or under.

From an interview with Chairelli about that team, on the subject of goalies.

The problem is none of the goalies who have played in the NHL this season are eligible to play on Team North America. The top candidates all likely are in the American Hockey League, among them John Gibson (Anaheim Ducks), Jon Gillies (Calgary Flames), Malcolm Subban (Boston Bruins), Connor Hellebuyck (Winnipeg Jets) and Matt Murray (Pittsburgh Penguins).

always thought Gibons would be a lock for the under 23 club

The U-23 thing still has to be the dumbest idea the NHL has come up with since putting a team in Atlanta or the toe in crease rule.

As far as Team USA, I don't see THAT much turnover.

I think we can safely say Brown and Orpik are 100% not going to be on the team. Ryan Miller will probably not be brought back as the 3rd goaltender.

Saad, T. Johnson and Eichel I think will be on the team, and Yandle as well as for as guys that will be on the team that weren't last time.

Edit: I assume the rules are that the national teams get first dibs on any U-23 players before the U-23 team does?

I believe the national teams will not be taking U-23 players at all.

The whole thing is a joke so I haven't followed it much though.
