Chicago just scored. Mute on.

Edmonton is the hot garbage of a year ago without McDavid, that's for damn sure. Looks like 7th place again, once again, for the mighty Oil.

Oilers got to move a young forward or two for a top defender. Oilers fans are ready to run yet another goalie out of town when they continue to ice an AHL caliber defense

The have quite a good amount of forwards that can be moved too, it's astonishing that haven't moved anyone yet.

The Oilers have to find a partner willing to part with a stout defender for one of those forwards, it takes two.

Also it's just not plug and play either, look at Hamilton in Calgary.

The only one I can think of off the top of my head would be Nashville (Weber).

Who can at least play a regular shift in the NHL. So can Torres, but Torres is a dumb hockey player that simply won't change his hitting habits. So Torres needs to be out of the league, before he kills someone.

I agree with you about Torres.

But Andreoff isn't known as a cheap shot artist. Our boys Nolan, Clifford, and Andreoff are known as honest players. Other fan bases may not like them, but they sure as heck aren't head hunters like Torres.

Andreoff isn't known yet. Take a look at Clune. Andreoff's career trajectory could be very similar. The time will come when he's going to get desperate to "prove" that he still belongs, go out of his way and cheap shot some dude either intentionally or out of inability to execute a proper hit, simply becasue because he's not very good.

You could say that about any 4th liner in the league. But the fact that he hasn't resorted to such shenanigans in the AHL or limited NHL still makes me think he's an honest player. Granted, he's not the most skilled, but he is far from useless as some posters seem to think.

Have to admit DL has done an amazing job keeping the D pipeline pumping out serviceable Dmen. Most of the league is starving for 2 pairing D men and while our situation isnt idle its workable. Its amazing that we as a team can lose a player of Voynov's caliber and still chug along. Props to DL.

Well, last year didn't go so smoothly with our D, even though we had a decent GA if I remember correctly. This year they look way more sorted and Doughty's ice time is not overwhelmingly high. McBain looks a lot better when he's not paired with McNabb. Erhoff has been pretty garbage so far though.

Yup, last year was rough but not DL'd fault. His hands were tied until Voynov's fate was sealed.
RR talked on the fan 960 a couple weeks ago about how impactful losing Voynov was. Just his minutes and the type of situations (all) he would play.
This year so far we are not missing RR as much as I thought we would be.

Major props to all of the top 4 for their continued development...Doughty for becoming even more of a leader...McNabb for eating first-pairing minutes and seldom, if ever, looking out of place...Muzzin for taking over his own pairing and if there's a guy who can rebound from brainfarts and look unstoppable whose name is NOT Quick, it's Muzzin...and Martinez for stepping up into bigger minutes and looking like a great #4 now.

Not discounting McBain, Forbort, Ehrhoff, but those 4 have made this THEIR defense corps, not waiting/hoping for outside help, and Doughty is the general. As a fan, last year it felt like we kept waiting for someone to save us, and help never came; this year, they seem determined to NOT do that.

I will admit last year wasn't the best and didn't have the look of being able to make a deep run but we also had that statistical screw job with losing so many OT/SO. What was left of the D corps was being drained hard, in the long run the long off-season may be a blessing in disguise.
