Yeah I couldn't believe that, in a shutout too.

Guy is an alltimer, we're lucky to see him play and I'm glad he's had relative health considering he plays as recklessly as Brown.

Trotz has seemed to bring out something in him that was lacking before or maybe he's 30 now and that made a difference but he's a more complete player than when he was younger.
It's unusual to have a player that prolific a goal scorer, that elite and one who uses his body and hits like that.

He's just a really unique player (as is Brownie, but obviously Ovi's magnitude is tenfold), and it's clear he's grown. Trotz has been great at getting more out of players throughout his career and between that and Ovi's maturity I'm sure it's helping all around. Certainly helps too that the Caps are as deep as they've ever been.

Got to see a Caps preseason game a few years back. Watching Ovechkin practice one timers from the top of the circles was jaw dropping. Seemed like every shot was either picking the near side top corner or hit the post. The accuracy was uncanny.

Lol at Stamkos robbing Callahan from scoring on EN.

VAN got handled by OTT, and Flames also lost. Now we just need Oilers and Yotes to deal with each other in regulation.

They literally have the worst lineup in the league. Which is why teams (like us) take it easy and then get owned.

Yeah, I saw him doing that at Honda Centre too. He winked at a group of us and yelled "top left" before putting 5 straight one timers up off the post. It's a video game at that level.

And they're in first place . Who'd have thought that 20 games into the season. They've gotten 10 points by beating the Pacific teams so far. This team is the new Flames.

They really are. Only a couple of their games were impressive, otherwise they employ literally the same thing the Flames did, just counterpunch with speed and get some bounces. Just hope they don't do it all season.

Hopefully Gagne isn't affected in his day-to-day life. Despite being on the rival Flyers for most of his career, Gagne was always a player I enjoyed watching.

Growing up, nobody wanted to volunteer to play goalie so we'd have to prop up my trash can instead. For some reason, we named it Khabibulin. [/coolstorybro]

I was thinking about this the other day; it would be better if the Kings ultimately finish second place in the Pacific division instead of first. The number 1 team will play a wild card team, which will most likely be a team from the Central Division with how things look and could very well be the Blackhawks - talk about a tough first round match up. The second place team, on the other hand, will play either the Canucks or the Sharks. The only potential bad matchup would be against the Ducks when they really turn things around (which I think they will). With all of that said, I just pray that we make the playoffs.

"I think I'm up for the Selke Trophy; I'm shutting Ovi down pretty good right now. Two disallowed goals because of me. I want him to get it at home anyway, so that was the reason."
— Capitals forward Justin Williams on being the culprit for Alex Ovechkin's last two goals being disallowed after coach's challenges

Miss that guy.

So if Khabibulin is done, that means there's no original Jets left playing, right? I know Doan was drafted there but he never played for 'em.

Great to see Williams doing as well as he is in Washington, 13 points in 15 games.

It's not just the points, it's his presence on the ice, and what he provides with or without the puck. Last night , the goal he scored, was a perfect example of him having that on ice sense to do the right thing, move in and drive. It's also his leadership helping 2 different teams win Cups w/ different locker rooms and that also he isn't shy about vocalizing when it's called for and the Caps are a team that was (IMO) lacking that kind of leader.
He had a ton of relatives and friends at the game in Philliy last night and was nice he got a goal.

Doan played 74 games for Winnipeg as a rookie.

Not sure if it counts, but Deron Quint is still playing in the KHL. He was a Winnipeg 2nd rounder in 1994 and played 51 games for them. Devils acquired him at the 2000 deadline and he played a handful of games before being banished. If I recall correctly, he showed up to practice drunk/hungover.
