We have traded Roland McKeown, Colin Miller, and essentially Oscar Klefbom for rentals over the years....this has depleted our system so much so that Jamie McBain is playing and Forbort is sitting.

Why do people keep bringing up Roland McKeown as it was some great loss ?

The guy didn't even make it out JR hockey yet, and actually regressed last season in JR's (which is extremely hard to do). His production is ok, but McKeown is not good in his own end at all.

Yeah...Hextall has 5 top defense prospects growing in the tank, a goalie prospect and last year, finally! A top flight forward. But it will be years before the fruits of those seeds grow into NHL crops.
And Capt. Invisible, turns 28 in Jan...and no playoffs in sight. They need to trade him before he hits 30 and his prime years are done, get their best value. But they won't...4th straight yr he's started slow, they struggle and are playing golf in April.
At least Scott Laughton is finally getting his chance and he's doing well. that's my bright spot right now.

Always liked Laughton and glad to see he's playing well. I agree about Giroux, Flyers would get a nice return for him to build for the future.

Pierre LeBrun's piece about the 2 and 1/2 yrs since You Can Play emerged encouraging gay players to come out, still waiting for that first player to step up.

I understand Patrick's Burke's (founder of the You Can Play campaign of a couple years ago encouraging gay players to come out ) frustration, but it's too much of a stigma, esp in a macho sport like hockey. I think once a prominent player would come out, be accepted and the games go on, it will be easier for the others to follow. But that first player, that's a whole lot of guts. I just don't see that happening any time soon.

A very likable heart and soul player who busts his butt on every shift, is good defensively, a solid 2 way player and not afraid to go into the dirty areas to puck hunt. The more ice time he'll get, the better he'll shine. There's a reason he was such a terrific leader every where he's played and he sees the ice very well, reads the game at a high level.

Because he was an asset. No matter what he turns out to be, at that particular day he was an asset.

Those are 2 different things.

Im not McKeown's biggest fan either but he had value. I also wonder why Dean had to give up these extra pieces for both Sekera and Lucic. Basically he gave up a 1st rounder and 2nd rounder for a 2nd pairing defenseman.

As for McKeown not being good in his own end. Thats stuff you read more often with prospects. Not good defensively, bad skater, bad character. Its never too late too improve.

I don't understand what is to be accomplished trying to pressure athletes to come out. If they want to, they will.

Hawks score again. If this was a Blues home game, their "fans" would already be clearing out. Once the other team gets a two goal lead, they bail.

Backes is going to beat the crap out of Marko Dano in the closing minutes of this game. The poor guy isn't old enough to buy a beer. Backes has probably been eyeing this one for awhile, the fact that Dano has a goal probably has him even more livid.

I bet Backes is still hazing Fabbri. "LOL, ****ing rookie. I put your boxers in the freezer. What are you going to do about it, rookie?!? Want to fight me???"

They ran for the exits after the empty netter. Place looked like a ghost town those last couple of minutes. Fire drill.

Hawks score again on a PP gifted to them by Big Baby Backes. What a team those Blues are, lol. It's going to take two flushes to get them down the toilet.

Turned the game on just as Hawks scored 5th goal. Immediately muted the sound.
