The Flames are a mess.

Gio and Brodie are playing just average, not even great/good. Hamilton has been an absolute BUST.

Their Defense is in shambles, it's actually amazing how bad they are. Which in turn, makes their goalie situation, worse(already terrible).
 
Like Lombardi says all the time - being the Cinderella team is easy, what's hard is dealing with expectations.

Yup. They weren't going to sneak up on everyone, their cute stretch passes won't work either, and their ridiculous goaltending can't hold up when they're just under seige all game every game.

Only survivors are Gaudreau who can improvise like a beast and ...that's all I've got right now.

They'll pull it together a bit but no one but Flames fans apparently is surprised. Well, actually, I'm surprised it's THIS bad right now, but they were running on fairy dust last year.

Brodie is a madman though. I'm wondering if Gio is just still recovering in full or if he's starting to decline, he has taken a pounding.

Bennett really impressed me, dude has some skills.

I see why Gaudreau gets points though. He cherry picked all night and had several horrible turnovers that led to outnumbered attacks. Defense doesn't even enter his mind. What amazes me more is many of their fans thought he was outstanding tonight. That effort would have been crucified around here. Not that he doesn't have skills, the guy can really play. But man, it's risk risk risk.

But then again, it's probably just what they are used to. It's not like their forwards come back, retrieve, then go forward as a unit of 5. It's why they are where they are in the standings.

Columbus 3-2 in their last five after starting the season 0-8. Under Torts 3-3.

Bus invades Staples on Thursday. Should be fun.

Was watching TSN Sportscenter and the wife was sitting beside me listening, but not watching, and I said, "Christ TSN, it's just an injury.", and the wife says, "He's only injured? I thought he died or something, seriously.".
The way they were talking it was over the top. Yes I understand he's a good player and will likely be a great player, but come on. Players are injured every game.

That's what happens when 90% of a teams players have career years, all in the same year, like the Flames did last year.

Seriously. Did anyone think Wideman was going to be Karlsson again? Hudler is suddenly a year-over-year 70 point player in his 30s?

On the other hand, Brodie is righteous.

Exactly. They made a living coming back from 3rd period deficits while getting outshot every night. Their defense wasn't even "good" last season in terms of actually playing uhh defense. They were middle of the pack. It's just funny how every season we see those polls on who's got the best defense or rank defenses and it's always teams on the list who are good on paper but rarely as good in practice. The Ducks seem to get mentioned as well as a top 5 defense too and I don't get that one either. Talent on paper, okay. On ice production? Not so much.

I have 10 minutes to watch highlights in the morning before going to work. The only sports station I currently get is TSN and I catch the lead off of the show. 7 minutes was McDavid before they even showed the highlights of the Edmonton Philly game. Your a highlight show...maybe stick to highlights to lead things off

Brodie has been really good. best player on the team in his limited number of games. not that that means much

I was saying this around the office before the seasons started, but I thought some of the regression would be offset by Frolik and Hamilton. They have been worse than I thought they would be
 
Didn't the Sharks start out 4-0?

They are 2-6 since then. You can set a clock by this team; always a quick jump start, then they always come back down to earth. They are more consistent than the weather.
