Sharks already 0-4 on the PP late in the 2nd. So much for the hottest PP in the league.

Sharks with all of 2 SOG in the third period, and lose to the Ducks, 1-0.

Boston took a 4-3 lead against Calgary on a shorthand penalty shot with 1:04 remaining.
Calgary ties it with 2 seconds left, then win in OT .:amazed:

Which is still a gong show, even though 3 of the 4 teams playing tonight won.

Don't forget the Yotes (although I know it's easy to). 5 played tonight and all lower seeded teams won. Both higher seeded teams lost.

The Karlsson thread...

"Hart nominee"

"Best defenseman"

I guess I've already got them in Quebec.

Just kidding, I did forget them.

Oh Karlsson's gonna get the Vezina nod too trust me it's coming. What a joke.

Don't you have to be on the ice during the PK to get a Vezina nomination? :naughty:

Edit: Watched the Ducks vs Sharks. Someone hit mute in the 3rd period and the game got better. Sharts got dominated in the 3rd, very little O-zone time. 1 goal, was that the 4th line? Stewart was out there, maybe it's the 3rd... just bad hockey. Solid penalty by number 8 out there with 3 mins to go down by 1 goal. Had to make sure that wasn't 28 for a second. After seeing the Ducks this year, I don't think it's a good idea to swap guys out on the roster for fun and throw in bargain bin replacements, just ugly.

:laugh::laugh::laugh: Gold!

edit: No cuz he's not on the PK and already won his third Norris.

No, because as long as you're scoring just enough to cover up your mistakes, you're the best defenseman in the league.

5v5 goals for, against, GF%--
Karlsson--29, 26, 52.7%
Klingberg--25, 18, 58.1%
Doughty--15, 11, 57.7%
Keith--10, 13, 43.5%
Weber--15, 16, 48.4%
Josi--17, 15, 53.1%
McDonagh--23, 13, 63.9%
Subban--28, 21, 57.1%
Suter--22, 16, 57.9%

Yep, no one else has a legitimate case, Karlsson for Norris and MVP. Never mind that he gets next to no PK time and is deployed to play offense only, unlike everyone else not named Klingberg. Suter is quietly having an awesome year, McDonagh to a lesser degree because their team is being propped up by goaltending rather than good D (though McD is the bright spot). Didn't feel like going in any more depth but a norris analysis thread would be fun when I have a lil more time.

I hope Calgary isn't rediscovering that ******** 3rd period/OT voodoo. I'm enjoying their humble pie too much.

Only thing that matters in the East is scoring goals. I mean, that's why they have so many Cups these past few years, right? Who needs defense when you can score at will. Look how well that worked for the Bolts, Rangers, Devils and so on. I mean, the Rangers would have won the Cup if Uncle Gary did't fix the game so we had better defense, a better team, a better goalie, a better coach and cut our teeth playing in a better conference. Oh and we didn't even need a snow pile to bail us out two different times in the same game to steal a single win. But yeah, goals and stuff.
+ I seriously would like to see how the playoffs will turn out if we wouldnt have this format of East-West. Now the East has a guaranteed SC final spot.

If it wasnt so obvious already, I hate that conference so much, words cant express how much.

We should have 1 more NHL team for Seattle or QC or Vegas and have the AHL Champs play in the bracket :sarcasm:/:popcorn:

Still don't understand the dislike of Karlsson. People talk about the biased eastern media but as was discussed last year, Bob McKenzie polled 20 coaches (10 from each conference) and Karlsson came out ahead in the poll for the Norris, but I guess the coaches have no clue what they are talking about.

And what is so ridiculous about a defeneman winning the Hart? Realize it hasn't happened since Pronger about 15 years ago, and probably won't because the voters don't recognize elite d-man like they should. But I guess if Nick Lidstrom never won one then Karlsson shouldn't either, I get that.

I like Karlsson but I don't think he should have a Norris if he doesn't even play all defensive roles.

So, say he were to finish top 5 in the NHL in scoring as a d-man (currently sits 5th), would you be ok with him being in contention for the Hart or Lindsay?

It's been over 20 years since a d-man was top 10 in scoring, and over 30 years since a d-man was a top 5 in scoring.
