Team Canada already eliminated from WJC... what?

Making a shift by shift video on one of the Finnish players now. I followed the thread as much as I could and I haven't even really reached the part where the meltdown of Canadian fans began.

A lot of things went wrong for Canada, especially today. On their own end, their coach was unable to make adjustments, and kept in a goalie who had a very bad game. Then some mental lapses of some key players.

From Finland's end... they have a very good team, their coach changed goalies after Canada scored their third, and key players stepped up.

Three of the top prospects in the draft are from Finland: Puljujarvi, Laine, and Juolevi. Each of them had three points in this game.

Juolevi would look perfect on the Kings' blueline. Too bad they won't be in any position to select him in the 1st round.

He's actually who I'm doing the video on. Some of the things he does are just incredible. If anything, though, I do think he lacks a little bit of what I would call "danger sense."

I'm not going to provide commentary on the video (I'm so far behind in making them - an illness in the family followed up by me injuring my back then other unrelated health issues came up... so I'm just trying to crank them out). But if you want to check out the video (I'll link after I publish on Youtube), you'll see times where he fails to acknowledge the most dangerous player on the ice at times. It's something that will come with experience, but yeah, he's quite the talent.

Edit: Forgot to add I agree he would be a great fit on the blueline.

Edit edit: Below is the video I just published on Youtube.

Allan Walsh, agent for Jonathan Drouin, admits his client had asked for a trade

Formal statement by the agent says they requested the trade in November.

I wonder where he'll end up? Top 3 pick, only 20 years old. Habs need a scoring winger, they outta make a call, Ducks, Preds, Panthers, maybe the Sens. A lot of teams wanted to daft him, I'm sure Stevie Y will get a few calls.

Hell, if the Flyers had anything decent to offer, he'd be the top 3 LW they could use. But I don't think Hexy'd give up top draft pick or one of the young D, but who knows.

‏@renlavoietva Never felt that the marriage between the #lightning and Jonathan Drouin was working. Time for a divorce.

He's right. And Cooper's being pretty critical of him, not easy when you come into the NHL and there is static and sandpaper between you and the coach.

F'ing ridiculous. He isn't really going is he? I know a lot of the voting for him was driven by east coast media aholes.

Yes, sadly he is, yesterday he said he was looking forward to it and it would be 'fun'.

Central division Cat Patrick Kane approves and said it's 'good for the game'.

‏@ChrisKuc Patrick Kane on John Scott being elected to All-Star Game: "Hopefully Johnny shows up. It would be something good for the game." #Blackhawks

Further proving the All-Star game is a complete joke. Players love it though, they get a break.

Could see a deal centering around Ryan Jo from Columbus as Drouin as part of a package.

Stamkos likely and Drouin on the outs. What a mess for a team that's not even a year removed from the SCF.

While this is true, Tampa Bay's follow-up season to appearing in the SCF can't come close to comparing the mess/drama/pain that the Kings suffered in their follow-up season to appearing in the SCF, just last year.

Having said that, the Kings' remarkable recovery season is beautiful to behold. If we can cap it with another Cup, I would say all the pain from last season was worth it.

But only barely.

It should be embarrassing to them, given the team falloff from last year. And that kind of friction between coach and player (s) can affect a lockeroom. You wonder if that might be part of the reason that team has struggled in far too many games this year.

In other areas of Florida, the Panthers have won 8 in a row and 15 of the last 18 and are gaining confidence and swagger with every shift. They've got a good balance of young and rising talent and some pretty good vet leadership in Jagr, Bobby Lu and Cap'n Willie.

I don't know man. Knowing that you're going to lose Stamkos, would be like losing Kopitar or Doughty. I think that's worse.

I don't think it's remarkable. A good team playing well shouldn't be a surprise.

I am guessing that you haven't been watching this "good team playing well" for the past several seasons, because it's been six years since they have been this high in league standings this deep into the season.

So yes, to me, it's pretty remarkable how consistently good this team has been this season.

I don't think it's a surprise they're doing well. Missing the playoffs was good for them I think.

It it somewhat surprising they have the 3rd best record in the NHL, but calling it "remarkable" makes it sound like it's totally far fetched.

How about: "The Kings surprising recovery is beautiful to behold." ?

Happy now?

Try to blame it all on him...but where were their special teams? Why were the timely goals? Where was the timely goal tending?

I don't even think the headline and content are that bad--but it's a kid, it's sensationalist, and it's letting everyone else off the hook. Virtanen made a mistake or two that he will likely never live down but he doesn't need to be reminded of it a la National Enquirer and it's just downright stupidity to lay a loss at his feet.
