Jets are looking bad but ducks are waking up. Knew a lot of stuff would correct but they're actually doing it with defense first

2 points separates 2nd place with 6th.

And if the coyotes had lost in regulation instead of a SO to the oilers yesterday, it would be 1.

The Pacific is... interesting for lack of a better word.

Good for Florida and Willie Mitchell!!

Starting to look like the Kings will draw Nashville or Minnesota in Round 1 with St. Louis being an outside possibility. Things can change of course, but I find it interesting that after January 1, the standings just seem to become more entrenched in their current position. Obviously 2nd and 3rd are up for grabs in the Pacific.

Let's skip the regular season and go right to the playoffs as soon as Carter gets healthy.

And just like that, ANA is in third. Expect them in second soon enough, and with the Kings 1 and 2 in the division. Unlike last season, ANA awful first two months of the season won't affect their playoff aspirations, thanks to this ridiculously pathetic Pathetic division.

Not just me this time. National game is bad for him. So butter soft all
Over the ice. Empty net could have Come sooner with that cute "defense" he played
On toews circling the net.

One of his worse games to be sure but that defense was honestly 100% a typical game for him. THAT is why I rain on him so much

Sad thing is that he'll continue getting a pass. Defense is so much more difficult to quantify, so this will get swept under the rug with the "well, he puts up so many points so it cancels out" argument.

But I know what those EK threads look like on the main forum that we're in. We can happily take our game controlling Two-Way D-Man and never ever have to worry about what he isn't bringing to the ice.

WTF, Karlsson got the 3rd star of the game, with a -2?

 Watched the game but didn't bother to check but you gotta be kidding me. LMFAO! Wow I've seen it all. What the heck is the Chicago media smoking. They must have not watched the game. Wow.

I don't think the 3 starts in NHL.com match the 3 stars at the game. I seem to have seen different ones many times from watching a game.

I don't get it. Yes he's good on offense and is gifted, but most of points are assists in an offensive orientated team where their forwards are also racking up points.

He only has two more goals than doughty right now. I don't see ek being that far ahead IMHO. One chooses to play d and the other spectated. Oh well I take doughty any day of the week and twice on Sunday. It's a no brainer.

Good for the Cats, 9 game winning streak with giving up only 10 goals in those 9 games.
16 W's out of the last 19 games.

Jagr is amazing. Had both goals in the 2-1 win last night. The night before on the road vs the Rangers, he had zero SOG and was angry about it, the broadcasters said he was angry post game and all the way home and vowed to make up for it. And he did, from the drop of the puck last night, he dominated most shifts.
I watched him on that drive for the GWG midway thru the 3rd , calling out orders in his own end when all the Panthers went behind the net and left the slot wide open.
Then, this 43 yr old who played on the road the night before, took that puck up the ice , made a good move and shot a wicked wrister into the net. There were players half his age who didn't have the legs and drive he had in that 3rd.
What he had given that team can't be measured in $$. He's changed there whole dynamic, such a leader.
Cudos to Willie and Bobby lu for being a part of that veteran leadership group that is getting the job done.
They are a very good hockey team, very close locker room and believe in themselves.
Not a team you'd want to meet in the 1st round...

You can't duplicate a Jagr. Even if people did exactly what he did to keep in shape, it would be unlikely to work as well as it does for him.

Morin sure seems to have fallen off a cliff. Low rish maybe high reward for the leafs?

Yeah, I think it's a no lose situation for the Leafs, new city, new team, maybe Morin comes around. If he's smart, he realize the opportunity and works his butt off for the Marlies.

Key to jagr's longevity...no family.

Yup, I think having a big family with a lot of kids makes for too much distraction and can drain the energy of a player. I mean look at D. Brown.

Jagr is a ****ing beast. I think Florida is gonna go deep this year, they finally have the centerman and D to do it, and Luongo is a solid goalie to have.

also sleeping with models who want to blackmail you and not giving a **** helps him stay young

Very true. It takes a supreme work ethic and focus but ALSO natural genetics to make you that sort of animal. And a little bit of luck with injuries, too.

No one can 'become' Duncan Keith ever, the guy tested with a VO2max similar to Lance Armstrong. Doughty, Karlsson, other guys as well who just play big minutes are just naturally gifted beyond what 'working out all summer' will do for the average player. It's really amazing when you see what these guys are capable of. Keith in the last playoffs...wow. Jagr, inhuman.
