He's a great goalie, but he's had some inconsistencies, a bit of injury history, and seemed to have some attitude issues last year. They still have some issues on defense as well. We'll see how it goes.

We got more for taking Marleau from Toronto than Ottawa got for taking Zaitsev + Brown...I want to laugh but they helped them out of a cap crunch without making them feel pain and reducing the likelihood of prying away a good piece for cheap

Also got players who will play for them in the deal, compared to only getting a buyout in Carolina's case.

Are they great players? No, but they will contribute much more than Marleau will.

Rather take the 1st for a possible great player in a few years than taking Zaitsev and Brown.

Oh, I completely agree about that. I don't like the deal for Ottawa unless they think Zaitsev can be rehabilitated. Even if they think compliance buyouts are coming with a new deal, they didn't get much other than Zaitsev and Brown as players. So they must think those players can be worthwhile.

I mentioned this in the other board, but the Zaitsev trade was horribad for the Sens. Not even a single effort to pry a high pick from Dubas for a 5-year albatross; in fact, they GAVE marginal talent away to get him because the actual cheapskate Melnyk liked the fact that Zaitsev and Brown both had paid signing bonuses. It's trades like that which makes Leafs fans think that Dubas is a genius, while the reality is that the Sens are utterly incompetent and will continue to be incompetent until Melnyk sells the team.

Not sure everyone share my opinion but Hawks could be really good once again.

Caggiula/ Toews/ Kane
Perlini/ Strome/ DeBrincat
Saad/ Dach/ Shaw
Kubalik/ Kampf/ Quennville
They also have Anisimov, Carpenter, Sikura, probably Saarela.

Keith/ Jokiharju
De Haan/ Seabrook
Gustafsson/ Maata
Murphy, Dahlstrom.

Lehner, Delia and Crawford.

So with the signing of Ceci, Toronto is looking at a top 4 of

Rielly - Barrie
Muzzin - Ceci

I guess it’s nice to ship out Zaitsev, and Barrie is definitely an upgrade on Hainsey, but I’d be underwhelmed if I were a Leafs fan. Maybe this defense is “good enough” to win, given the talent they have up top?

Progressive taxes, income-dependent speeding fines.

No wonder they leave for abroad to play NHL hockey.
