Nice emoji. ;)

So are you saying the Canes didn’t offer him to other teams or decided to take a lower offer instead? Is that what you are suggesting?

And regarding the age/contract differences, one was bought out and the other was traded for something. :dunno:
I took your comment as “this is what DeHaan will be worth”, when I don’t find the two very comparable other than they’re defenseman who used to play for us.

To me it’s just a poor comparison, one of them is in his prime the other is clinging to a career. DeHaan even if he gets hurt a lot will probably keep coming back and playing well beyond this contract.

Yeah, so Bob's signing with FLA most likely.

But the chaos-lover in me would be delighted if by 12:15 Bob, Lehner, Varly, Mrazek, Smith, et al, signed with other teams....and then Tallon's phone rings..."Hi Dale, Don Waddell here. I hear you need a goalie..."

I'm not a big believer in "handshake deals," or anything that's not 100 percent above board, but I have a hard time believing Florida is doing this unless they *know* they're getting Bobrovsky.

So what i’m led to believe is that our goalie options tomorrow are pretty much a guy who was arrested for domestic violence, a guy who wore a mask with the current us president’s name on it, and Petr Mrazek.

Safe to say re-signing Petr was what I hoped we’d do coming into the offseason, and nothing has changed that opinion. Character issues pertaining to other potential signings aside, I really hope he’s back for a few more years to prove that this year wasn’t a fluke.

Lehner wearing a Trump mask is an equivalent character issue to Varlamov's (dropped, but still) domestic violence charge? The snowflake's approach to sports team building, me thinks. I don't care, if my choice was Lehner or Mrazek, I would love to have Lehner if the contract isn't too huge. My fear, though, is the strong possibility that Lehner will get grossly overpaid for a career year.

Florida, New York and Carolina are obvious 1 or 1A opportunities. Columbus can go either way, 1A or 1B to Korpisalo.

Beyond that, I'm not seeing any other location in which it makes sense to shell out 1 or 1A money. The Devils and Sabres could use upgrades, but have a veteran under contract (Schneider/Hutton) to pair with their young goalie (Blackwood/Ullmark).

There are 4 goalies that fall under of those categories (Bobrovsky, Lehner, Varlamov, Mrazek). 4 goalies for 4 spots, no?

They’re not comparable. I’m just saying that i’d rather have Mrazek over the other two, for reasons both sporting and character wise. Ultimately I’d take either Lehner or Varlamov, but i’m well within my right to not be thrilled if it came to that. I know you’re never going to have a locker room full of angels, but that doesn’t mean these are t things you can consider as the fan of a team.
