Avs get Bura from the Caps for a 2nd and a 3rd. Both teams did well here, especially considering that the Caps were THIS close to not QOing him, and instead got good picks from a Western team.

I'd take Haula all day over Burkovsky and I see Nic Roy being worth considerably less than a 2nd + 3rd. Maybe Vegas is dead-set on sending their guys to the East.

Cost-control plays a major role in the value that Haula vs. Burakovsky got. Bura could potentially get 2-3 years of team control, while Haula is a pending UFA in 2020. It was still a great trade for the Canes to get Haula for so little because Vegas was up against the cap wall, but it's still worth noting the difference.

Burakovsky only has 2 RFA years left so the difference isn't that great. Plus Burakovsky might end up being paid more than Haula on his new deal. 30 point winger versus a 40-50 point center.

Where are the Leafs going to find a RHD they can afford?

The Marlies.

Seriously, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Toronto came out of this offseason with a downgraded blueline. There's so much money and asset power concentrated up front that there will consequences arising from it.

That 1st may end up being a very solid pick.
