Simmonds wins the Messier over Williams? Holy **** that's a ****ing joke. Guess that's why nobody takes that thing even remotely seriously.
Yeah that award needed to be dumpstered the second it came out. A leadership award that is solely determined by the most overrated "leader" of all time.

No he was league wide viewed as a joke when he took over. It was him and Benning head to head for a while, especially on here.

Yeah I'm with that. Only thing is the Bruins were a powerhouse last year as well, he didn't really have to DO anything to get them to that point. Nothing like the changes that Armstrong made in the ROR trade, yet alone the moves Waddell made getting a team that hadn't made the playoffs in a decade in to the conference final.

I think organizational depth plays a role here. The Bruins had 39 players dress for them this year. They had 21 different goal scorers in the playoffs. Missing as many guys as they did all season and not missing a step may have influenced the vote.

I’d have gone Armstrong though if it were me. Dundon made the move that defined the Canes, hiring Brind’amour.

I have no issue with Waddell not being GM of the year considering we don't even know how much of a hand he had in the moves he made. If we're truly operating as a hive-mind, with green light-red light type decisions at the top, he really doesn't deserve it, does he?

If it's really a hive mind, then the entire hive should be nominated in lieu of Waddell.

And if that's the case, I think the hive mind is worthy of this nomination and you can argue for Borg GM of the Year.
