To be fair, going from Arizona to a situation where best case scenario you get promoted and live in Buffalo...I mean...I get it is all I'm saying.

Oh I get it. Just don't say "with all due respect" then give them the shaft. If he had been traded to Columbus, would he have still bolted? Did the Coyotes and Sabres KNOW he was a flight risk when he was traded?

Very interesting Lee. Thanks for posting it.

I know hockey players become teammates w/ "enemies" all the time but a preseason cheap shot that lead to a life-altering concussion is something different.

We might get a break on Monday against the Stars. Lehtonen got hurt although not sure how long he is out for(could have just been for the game). We might see Tim Thomas but I guess a Thomas behind a Stars team is much different from Thomas behind a Panthers team. Then again we could score 3 on Thomas and could still lose. The Benn/Seguin is on fire the last two games. Hopefully like tonight, we don't take a lot of penalties as it could burn us.

I would be pretty sure to assume he was not the focal point of either trade. In fact, he was probably more than likely a salary dump getting passed around until his contract expires after the season. Buffalo probably doesn't care that much. He was nothing more than an AHL Dman making 3 million dollars this season

I'm guessing Lehtonen is out for a few games. He took a pretty good shot on that hit. If not from the original hit, but when his helmet came off and his head hit the cross bar. If he didn't get a concussion from that hit, I'd be surprised.

Annoying that Philly stole a point, but 3 of their next 4 games are: Pens, Pens, Blackhawks.

Caps as well, but 7 of their next 9 are against: Pens, Pens, Ducks, Sharks, Kings, Kings, Bruins.

Come April I don't think we'll be able to blame anyone else. These teams around us are gonna lose enough games. The Jackets just need to win enough. Last year stung, this year's just gonna piss me off if we don't make it.

And Rangers play 10 of next 13 on the road. Toronto only has 7 home games remaining. I have no idea how Detroit is hanging on. I wish we weren't playing them on the 2nd night of a back-to-back AND 3rd night of 4 nights AND 6th game in 9 nights AND flying home from CST Dallas to do it. However, I do think we just need to do what we've been doing and we should be alright.

Who do we cheer for in tomorrows afternoon game between the Wings and Rangers? Does it matter as long as it doesn't go into OT/shootout?

Well, if I'm reading it correctly, we're one point behind the Rangers for third in our division and tied with Detroit in points in the conference. My preference would be for a regulation win by the Wings (I feel so dirty!), followed by a win by the Jackets on Monday. That puts us in the third (guaranteed?) spot in the Metro, still tied with Detroit, pointwise (but behind them on regulation wins).

Does that sound right?

A few corrections. CBJ and DET are currently tied with 71 pts. DET has played one fewer game. If they lose in regulation today, we're back in the last wild card spot due to having more ROW than DET. NYR would go to 74 pts with a win today. We wouldn't catch them with a win on Monday but would solidify our wild card spot. Either result benefits us though, as long as it's not a 3-point game.

All that said, go NYR today.

I have to say- I enjoy watching Eastern Conference hockey so much more than Western. Today's game has had more action in one period than last night's game had for 2 1/2.

Springfield won 9-3 over Portland tonight. :amazed:

Skille with a 4-point night (2G, 2A), and the new guy Taormina had 3 assists.

It's funny considering how little you see their name mentioned, but the Jackets could be within 1 point of the Lightning after tonight's games (and better in ROW). If they win they'd also be just 4 points back of the Habs with a game in hand, another team that's been considered a shoo-in all year but could conceivably slip back with the rest of this pack.

As always, though, it comes down to the Jackets winning, not other teams losing. If they lose and so we do, WGAS?
