It's funny considering how little you see their name mentioned, but the Jackets could be within 1 point of the Lightning after tonight's games (and better in ROW). If they win they'd also be just 4 points back of the Habs with a game in hand, another team that's been considered a shoo-in all year but could conceivably slip back with the rest of this pack.

As always, though, it comes down to the Jackets winning, not other teams losing. If they lose and so we do, WGAS?

The Lightning are going to have a struggle from here on out. Sure, they got Stamkos back but the St. Louis for Callahan deal is a big reversal in the point production department for them. If I counted right, they are 2-8-1 in their last 11 games dating back to January 28th. if they keep tanking, they'll be out of the wildcard within a week and its a whole new ballgame with both slots open to fight for.

With Detroit missing Datsyuk and Zetterberg for a while. it could even end up that the Metro have 5 teams in when it comes down to it. Pittsburgh, NYR, and Philly holding down the 3 guaranteed spots and the CBJ and Caps pulling in the wildcard spots.

Detroit loses center Joakim Andersson for 2-3 weeks, broken foot. He's certainly not their best all around Center, but He is one of their better men in the circle.

Also, Ottawa making a come back with some time left. Hemsky has 2 assists on the 2 goals. Who would have thought, he would be helping out Ottawa(had 4 assists in another game last week).

Preds win in OT on a 2 on 0 breakaway thanks to Erik Karlsson's pinch and Phillips horrid turnover.

Wondering if Voynov has regressed this season or he craps the bed only when I watch him playing? He looks lost over there at times.

Yes but as mentioned above, the Sens had no business getting a point. They were down 3-0 with 13 minutes left in the 3rd. TB tied it up with 40 seconds. It easily could have been 0 points for all 3 teams.

The Sens are obviously well in it mathematically, but they're a pretty bad hockey team and I don't think they're a concern 2 weeks from now. Ditto the Caps, especially after a western swing that should destroy them.

I think the wildcards will come down to us, Tampa, Detroit and Jersey. And that's making the very, very uncertain assumption that the top 6 remain as they are.

The Caps are done in my eyes. I haven't worried about them for weeks, to be honest, but yeah they're a bad hockey team with a brutal schedule coming up. They're finished.

The Flyers, who we now sit ahead of... Penguins, Penguins, Blackhawks, Stars, Blues. That's their next five games. :amazed:

If they earn 5+ points outta that schedule, they'll deserve to be still in the race.

And I still wonder how the Leafs have managed to claw a few points here and there which leaves them where they are in the standings. It's hard to believe they can do it the rest of the way and finish an 82-game season as such a bad possession team, so reliant on heroic goaltending and random scoring off the rush, in the top 2 or 3 in their division. But I guess we'll see. If I'm right, they'll have more results like last night's and be prime to overtake in the WC standings.

Hopefully for us it doesn't come to that. And I guess if they have any remaining games against the Rangers, Flyers, Devils or Red Wings then I'm a big Leafs fan.

Bet they don't miss us...or us them :)

Counting our game vs them this year...that's 20-0-2

Our style of play works great versus the rank and file teams in the league. However, the elite teams see right through us. Our record versus teams that currently have 85 or more points: 1-11-2.

That means we're 33-15-3 versus teams with currently less than 85 points.

That's an interesting stat. Further proof that it's important to grab the #2 or #3 seed in the Metro instead of just focusing on making the playoffs.
