Yeah, well HF users also habitually overestimate the value of trade proposals for guys like Byfuglien. Especially fans of the established player being traded.

I think Zermanator is really close to realistic value. I also think Holland does not want to part with either Tatar, Nyquist, or Larkin.
It may be realistic value in a scenario where Winnipeg has more incentive to move Buff, or where the proposed package does a better job addressing the actual needs of the Jets. Winnipeg probably takes Dekeyser straight up instead of a bunch of secondary pieces since Dekeyser is exactly what they need.

How so? Personally I think most people overrate him due to his size and propensity to throw out the occasional big hit.

Take all of his physical gifts, and add the fact that he has 239 points over his previous 343 games (going back to the start of the 2010-11 season), good for roughly 0.7 PPG.

we have now 2 solid goalies, bad defense and ok forwards . to get better on defense we could trade Marazek or Howard + Kindl or Smith for solid stay home defense

Was signing Mike Green and Brad Richards also part of the master plan to tank?

Blashill isn't going to lose his job at the end of this season, no matter what.

I was kidding. Sheesh. I know Holland would never tank the team for picks because that would be idiotic.

And who would you get for that? Goalies don't have much value as trade pieces relative to their importance and Smith/Kindl have very little trade value due to contracts and play level.

You're looking at a very depressing return for those assets.

Dear lord guys.. Settle down a bit, it's a 3 game losing streak and we had much worse runs throughout the year last year. Ottawa was second last in the East last year in January and made the second round.

We haven't had a team with this much skill in years. Add a solid D at the deadline and were contenders.

wrong, they got knocked out in the 1st round.

Therefor the rest of your post is irrelevant.

now grab a pitchfork and yell fire holland, and blashill quickly!

All kidding aside, I don't even remember what this board was like in March last year. probably horrible. I mean someone already wrote a fire blashill thread for 3 losses.

I honestly can't remember a time when this board wasn't doom and gloom. I mean, these boards are easily the most informative I've come across in regards to information and insight on our team, but, as is usually the case, the perpetual glass-is-damn-near-empty folks can make it miserable sometimes.

I mean really, 6 games is all it takes for people to turn on a coach who is brand new to the NHL, let alone our team? He's making adjustments to a system that the team's grown overly accustomed to, has to contend with an absolutely ridiculous and brutal schedule (which hasn't been mentioned enough) and he's dealing with a bunch of guys who look like the need to work on basic shooting and passing drills at the next practice. Honestly, I'm pleasantly surprised we've won 3.

You want to see a place where the glass is overflowing with optimism, go to the Wings subreddit. Easily the most delusional posts i have ever read.

Mrazek's not going any where, Howard could be dealt next summer depending if there's a market to be had for starting Goaltending. Also in what world would a package around say Howard with either Smith or Kindl get us a solid stay home defenceman. And FYI don't we already have enough stay at home defenceman we need more offensive defenceman we need defenceman that can get the puck out quick in our own zone not more shutdown pretty sure that both Ouellet and Marchenko fit that bill without making a trade.

Eric Gelinas oozes offense. Great skater but the team had goal scoring problems the first few games so he hasn't done well with assists.

Whoops no idea why I thought they made it to the second. Maybe because I hate Montreal and that's what I wish happened. ;)

Point still stands that all of this "tank" talk is wayyyy too early. It's a three game loosing streak. Does that mean we were future Stanley cup champions during our three game winning streak to start the season?

If we're talking about guys that wouldn't cost a ransom to get, I think Kevin Bieksa was the guy. A 2nd round pick in 2016. Not bad at all. Missed opportunity there. The rest of that bunch is pretty worn out. And anybody younger is going to cost some serious assets.

If the Ducks keep falling apart, this might be one to revisit again. I know he hasn't been doing great, but where else are you going to get a top 4 guy (and righty) with some sandpaper to his game for dirt cheap?

It's a pretty big buy low and despite the struggles with the Ducks now, I think he's better than the majority of the Wings blueline.

Bieksa is bad at hockey now. He was falling off last year and has been terrible this year. Avoid Bieksa like the ****ing plague. Is he better than Quincey? Probably not, and that is saying something.

I don't know. I still think there's something there. Remember, this is only under the assumption of cheap.

Obviously I want somebody like Big Buff way more, but the number of realistic top 4 upgrades is pretty small, so no stone is unturned. It's not good enough to say "he's bad at hockey" to me and keep rolling out Kindl, Smith, Quincey, and Ericsson into big minute situations.

Buddy of mine is a huge Canucks fan and was relieved to see Bieska go. The way he described him it was like hearing him talk about Cleary. Heart and soul guy, still feels he has a lot to give, body just can't keep up any more.

Cheap to be had for sure, but he is notworth 4 Million dollars.

Funny that people here still rip on Quincey when he's probably the best defenseman on the team this season. Is he a great player? No. But he's been damn solid in the top 4 over the past 1+ seasons.

So the best defender on the team isn't a great player. That can't be good.
