1. Muzzin
2. Benn
3. Liljegren
4. Sandin
5. Rielly
6. Giordano
7. Holl
8. Hollowell
9. Timmins
10. Kral
11. Mete

Based on the numbers (FM's + hits) combined with the eye test I would rank him as the 9th most physical defenseman on the team this year.

I don't believe for a second that after producing in a stint with the Senators and then doing what he did in his first year in Toronto that he won't get another contract. Heavyweights aren't supposed to score at that pace. If he is really a 2 points per 18 games player he will probably get an AHL contract to be a someone's designated scrapper. But, I imagine over the course of the next couple years he will find his game again and play his way into another contract at the very least. If he can climb Tuscon's lineup and produce like Joshua was able to do with St. Louis' farm team post trade he will get a chance at the NHL level. If Douglas could score 15-25 points in a 4th line role he would make the NHL even in a depth role like Joshua did as an enforcer. He doesn't have to do exactly what Marchment did. But, even then his production for his role and considering his other attributes I could see him play up the lineup with opportunity and make this look bad in a couple years.
is that avatar Chris Buck?

With the number of bodies the Leafs have on the blueline, hopefully they don't have to lean heavily on him if he's not ready and needs load management.
I think we've enough solid D to successfully rotate players and give them the chance to be healthy going into the playoffs. I'm behind your idea of load management, especially Gio. Timmins has been a revelation, an absolute steal by Dubas. Right now, I don't know how you present your 6 best, a nice problem to have.
No guarantee that any player will 'stand up' to that type of ice time, injury history or no.

So far the kid looks good IMO.
Agreed, he has been wonderful. Keefe has slowly increased his ice time, I think he's averaging the least number of min on our blue line, but I'm impressed with most everything I've seen. I'm hoping he remains a part of the regular D corp.

I am really enjoying the Timmins pickup. Maybe it is because we essentially got him for nothing, but he really does look like he belongs.

There is some obvious rust to his game that shows up almost every game. Case in point the lone GA vs. Tampa last night. But overall, he is solid. He makes a really strong first pass, and he plays a really simple game. I think his defensive positioning could use a bit of work, but nothing crazy. It's more of a consistency thing vs. an inability. Not somthing entirely uncommon for young D-men. Especially a young D-man who has played in very little game action over his 4 year pro career.

I could see him becoming a very important part of our future on the right side. Not by any means projecting him to be a top pairing PP1 guy, but I really think he can become an everyday option for us. Timmy and Timmins seem like very realistic successors to Brodie and Holl on the right side in a couple years time. Add Topi to the mix and there is a healthy rotation of guys in the mix. Not to mention I expect TJ to take a bit of a sweetheart deal once his current one expires. Maybe not quite as big of a discount as Gio, but along those same lines.

Great piece of work by Kyle to get this kid.

It's almost like they owed the Leafs one from previous dealings.
right?

It is just odd all around. I'm sure playing within a structured system helps as well. But Timmins is just not a guy that I'd be giving up on at this point. He's only played 7 games for us and I can confidently say he's worth more now then the day we acquired him. That should never be the case for any trade. This was just a misevaluation by the yotes IMO

His neutral zone passing fits our game like a glove, if he starts finding time and space for his shot we're laughing. Too bad about where he played in junior though.
His blueline play, offesive and defensive acumen are something we lack. Liljegren plays that game but not as reflined as Timmins imho
0pGreat add p
In no petucular otder
Rielly Brodie
Gio Holl
Benn liljegren
Where is sandin? He's better than Benn offensively but benn blocks shots and dies the thinga that imho need to be done to win playoff game

There was a line change in the Washington game where Timmins wasn't afraid to just hold the puck in open ice between the circle and just wait and wait and wait before making a play. It's not much of a play but usually you see it with more of the alpha dogs who have the confidence to take their time and control the tempo.
I hate the dump and change with a passion. I don't know exactly what play you're talking about but carrying it up the ice then turning it back in the neutral zone to give everyone a chance to change and keep possession is a very high IQ play, love that.

Depending what kind of contract he gets I see Timmins being Holl’s replacement for next season. Hopefully they can get him for a couple seasons for something under 2.

He’ll definitely be under 2 million. Given his injury history and lack of NHL game experience, there’s no way he makes more than 1.25 per.

2 years, 1.25 million per is something I see getting done.

I’m good with that. He can play bottom pair minutes while Niemela develops for a few seasons. If injuries continue to be an issue for him we have depth to replace him. If he stays healthy and keeps playing good. He becomes a good value contract for a few years.

It was a couple of games ago, but he kind of came up the ice slowly from behind the net like he was going to transition up ice and just stopped in his tracks and kind of assessed right at center ice before getting to the blueline. It's a nothing play but a high mojo play like you're very comfortable to take an extra beat, look around, and handle the puck like it's yours in a very exposed part of the ice.
