How has Douglas been, though?
I bet he's living up to the hype in Arizona
is that avatar Chris Buck?1. Muzzin
2. Benn
3. Liljegren
4. Sandin
5. Rielly
6. Giordano
7. Holl
8. Hollowell
9. Timmins
10. Kral
11. Mete
Based on the numbers (FM's + hits) combined with the eye test I would rank him as the 9th most physical defenseman on the team this year.
I don't believe for a second that after producing in a stint with the Senators and then doing what he did in his first year in Toronto that he won't get another contract. Heavyweights aren't supposed to score at that pace. If he is really a 2 points per 18 games player he will probably get an AHL contract to be a someone's designated scrapper. But, I imagine over the course of the next couple years he will find his game again and play his way into another contract at the very least. If he can climb Tuscon's lineup and produce like Joshua was able to do with St. Louis' farm team post trade he will get a chance at the NHL level. If Douglas could score 15-25 points in a 4th line role he would make the NHL even in a depth role like Joshua did as an enforcer. He doesn't have to do exactly what Marchment did. But, even then his production for his role and considering his other attributes I could see him play up the lineup with opportunity and make this look bad in a couple years.
He must be on the HUNT for someone.Looking like another terrific addition by Dubas
I think we've enough solid D to successfully rotate players and give them the chance to be healthy going into the playoffs. I'm behind your idea of load management, especially Gio. Timmins has been a revelation, an absolute steal by Dubas. Right now, I don't know how you present your 6 best, a nice problem to have. With the number of bodies the Leafs have on the blueline, hopefully they don't have to lean heavily on him if he's not ready and needs load management.
Agreed, he has been wonderful. Keefe has slowly increased his ice time, I think he's averaging the least number of min on our blue line, but I'm impressed with most everything I've seen. I'm hoping he remains a part of the regular D corp.No guarantee that any player will 'stand up' to that type of ice time, injury history or no.
So far the kid looks good IMO.
Why? That's part of his skillsetHis neutral zone passing fits our game like a glove, if he starts finding time and space for his shot we're laughing. Too bad about where he played in junior though.
It's almost like they owed the Leafs one from previous dealings.no idea why Arizona would do this. but again, getting a functional NHL body for nothing at all is a win in my books.
right? It's almost like they owed the Leafs one from previous dealings.

His blueline play, offesive and defensive acumen are something we lack. Liljegren plays that game but not as reflined as Timmins imhoHis neutral zone passing fits our game like a glove, if he starts finding time and space for his shot we're laughing. Too bad about where he played in junior though.
I hate the dump and change with a passion. I don't know exactly what play you're talking about but carrying it up the ice then turning it back in the neutral zone to give everyone a chance to change and keep possession is a very high IQ play, love that. There was a line change in the Washington game where Timmins wasn't afraid to just hold the puck in open ice between the circle and just wait and wait and wait before making a play. It's not much of a play but usually you see it with more of the alpha dogs who have the confidence to take their time and control the tempo.
Even Don Cherry wouldn't find issue with this additionWhy? That's part of his skillset
That would be the most expensive bottom pairing in the league.Giordano - Timmins
Sandin - Liljegren
Rielly - Brodie
Holl
Edit: In some order.![]()
Edmonton is still paying Nurse 9M+ to be a bottom pair D-manThat would be the most expensive bottom pairing in the league.
He’ll definitely be under 2 million. Given his injury history and lack of NHL game experience, there’s no way he makes more than 1.25 per.Depending what kind of contract he gets I see Timmins being Holl’s replacement for next season. Hopefully they can get him for a couple seasons for something under 2.
I’m good with that. He can play bottom pair minutes while Niemela develops for a few seasons. If injuries continue to be an issue for him we have depth to replace him. If he stays healthy and keeps playing good. He becomes a good value contract for a few years. He’ll definitely be under 2 million. 2 years, 1.25 million per is something I see getting done.
