With the advancement of the kids and the eminent return of Rielly, is now the time to really start shopping Holl? His value, IMO, has gone up since he's been paired with Gio on the bottom pair. But he still makes too much for a 5th or 6th D on this team. Could we su...I mean...ENTICE...some team into taking his contract, along with Kerfoot, and a B prospect, for a potential upgrade of a middle 6 winger to play with JT and Marner? Am I valuing his recent good play too much?
you wanna trade a D after watching 3 of our top 4 D go down to injury?

Particularly when obtaining a Schenn, means we likely lose Benn or Timmins to waivers. It's spending assets, to very marginally upgrade our #7 spot. It's a foolish move (no offense Leafs34) to spend your assets on areas of want, and not need.... we may need to upgrade a top six LW, and may need to upgrade 3C....

I'd also add, that 3C is also a bit of a tbd situation. Holmberg is quietly up to 7 points in 15 games... and I appreciate that's partially skewed by 3 points in last nights game. Another ten games, work on draws, and keep up close to this pace, and I'm satisfied. At this point, his play has been good enough to suffice, defensively responsible, and maybe they've turned the corner offensively??? We can hope. So, we'd be looking for an upgrade in the dot only... which I can live without.

It's funny how the main need changes over time... everyone thought it's got to be D, after we lost Muzzin... but then we watched, and our guys showed that they were probably good enough. Then it's 3C, and Holmberg is coming around... winning me so far.... still need more time to decide for sure....

That's why I've repeated time and again... be patient, our real need will reveal itself in time.

Nobody has really taken that 2LW spot though, and put their stamp on it.
and lose a likely 2nd or 3rd round pick too, no to schenn for me as of now.

you do know it's possible to be incredibly wrong and admit it
You're telling me I should I should tell everyone how wrong I am after 4 games in limited ice time? Douglas could percolate another couple years in the AHL and Timmins could be injured AGAIN in a weeks time. Don't jump to conclusions or anything.

You do know it's possible to have an opinion different from the hivemind that sucks off Dubas for every move he makes?
Lol, you say this like you think youre some oppressed victim of this "hivemind that sucks off Dubas" when in reality youre whining about nothing to somebody who doesnt care.

Just because it was 4 games of impressive play by Timmins doesnt make the trade a good trade just like the stupid childish wish that a tall player could maybe some day be something potentially acceptable as a player didnt immediately make it a bad trade because he was dealt.

This team can't identitify and develop toughness. Douglas was a stand out player for the Marlies last year. Like all the others he has kicked out of town, he stands a good chance of performing better some place else. Based on his height, his skill both offensively and defensively and his physicality he stands out as a bit of a unicorn prospect, even if he doesn't hit his ceiling.

In my opinion it is a bad trade because as Dubas typically does, he undervalued the gritty player and overvalued the vanilla depth guy. When we already have the softest team and system in the national hockey league. Nothing like building each line and pairing the same way, without players that utilize body contact.

haha cool man. none of that matters when your unicorn doesnt grow his horn because hes a normal ass horse.

Meanwhile Timmins isnt soft, is playing in the NHL and is starting to fit in.

Even Denis Malgin throws the odd body check. Timmins is certainly not the second coming of Scott Stevens. He is not a physical player, he doesn't look like he'll get run out of the rink. But, not a bruiser by any means.

A lot of the Leafs unicorns have been pawned off by Dubas and each time they do very well when moved and it looks silly in the moment, but even more ridiculous a few years later.

The lack of self awareness regarding "hive minds" and who is part of one is very funny here.
Cant you tell how oppressed he is by the MAN!?!?!

A few unicorns eh, like f***in who lol. Marchment? He's your unicorn? Must be why he got 10 million on the market, guys a f***in unicorn.

The way they play make them unicorns. It's not hard to find a group of 23 pop tarts. It's harder to find 23 grown men that are willing to go out there and go to war.
You dont know what a unicorn is. You are thinking of a horse. A normal horse. Matthews is a unicorn. Marner is a unicorn. Kadri is a race horse, douglas is a really really tall donkey that isnt even involved in the farm other than to be a companion.

Vanilla depth guy was WJC all star and 1st pick of the 2nd round.

Douglas STUNK at training camp, badly outplayed by the likes of Steeves, Holmberg, McMann and Gaudette. Also weak in early AHL play with the Marlies by every report.

The same way Matthews and Marner are unique because of their skill someone like Kadri and Marchment are unique because of their ability to both play at a high level and be over the top physically.

Great, douglas isnt that either hahaha. He is like Tyler biggs but taller and potentially worse at hockey. #unicornlife

A lot of vanilla depth guys make the WJC and are relatively high draft picks.

I don't remember Douglas getting much time in training camp and I don't think I've seen him many times play above the 4th line at the AHL even though his production for his position in the lineup his first season was amazing. He got buried like every player with pulse seems to around here.

He got buried because he's not very good. And that's coming from someone that liked him quite a bit.

Sounds like you havent watched him play much, if at all and yet your opinion is so set in stone that youre willing to look like a child throwing a hissy fit to defend him rather than admit that, maybe, juuuuust maybe, your hopes and dreams arent reality.

How is someone that can score over .5PPG in an extended sample size with Rich Clune as a staple on his wing with only 4th line minutes as a rookie not be any good? Despite being a HW enforcer who could score at that pace, which would have to make him close to the best 4th liner in the league. How could they not even give him an extended look up a line, hell two lines just to see if he could do even more, especially when he is 6'9? It doesn't look like he played very well with the Marlies to start the season. But, I think it's kind of harsh to put all the blame on him when he wasn't given a real chance even with the Marlies despite overperforming in his role his first season. The second he didn't shoot the lights out with no PP time and 4th line minutes they just bailed.
