Timmins has a good chance to stay, and work himself into the top 4 if he can stay healthy.
Brodie might be re-signed after next year, but might be playing lower in the line-up.
And Brodie is natural on the left side. With Muzzin looking out for life, the left side is Rielly, Brodie , Giordano, Sandin and Benn as a distant replacement. Right handers Lilly, Holl, and Timmins. Could see Holl out eventually and Brodie over there as he ages.

I thought he looked pretty good last night. He'll get a decent shot for a few games now probably.

He made a pretty good first pass and seems to have a bit of size but still mobile.

Guys on the radio said he looked pretty shaky. As long as the answer isn't "awful" I'm encouraged.

First game in a while. That's pretty normal... and a new team too. Learning the system etc.

He had a couple dicey plays near the end of the game but it was already game over. Otherwise I didn't think he looked all that shaky.

Yep, radio guys in Toronto media?

After they send Liljegren an engraved apology for crapping on him the past couple of seasons, I might give these talking heads a whiff.

….. or just continue drawing my own conclusions using the trusted and true eye test, which at this time reads “so far, so good” on Timmins.

Cheering this guy hard to get back on track and give us a solid RHD for next to no cost.

Hayes, Noodles and Odog in shambles with Lilly's play. Mike Johnson kept telling them he was a good player, I like Johnny he's a smart guy.

I love Overdrive, but never got their hate of Lilly.

Rielly - Brodie
Sandin - Liljegren
Giordano - Holl
Benn - Timmins

Once everyone gets healthy, that’s a pretty good 1-8 on the blueline.

I’m sure Timmins wants to play every night, but this is a really good position for him given his injury history. Ease him into games here and there as our number 7 and let him build his confidence without getting injured hopefully. He’ll be a mainstay on the third pair next year when Holl walks in UFA.

And in an emergency, having Mete and Hollowell in the 9th and 10th slots is not a bad thing.

I don't understand the criticism. What more do we expect from a Dman making 2.1/per, playing 22 minutes a night and taking on the tough assignments.

Who's the replacement the Leafs can bring in at that cost?
the thing for me with holl is..

1st, let me start by saying hes played better as of late and has done admirably in harder minutes for sure.
i havent actually said anything negative in GDTs in a while(although the hand pass last game was infuriating and lends to my argument about him)

i trust justin holl to play decently most of the time, but hes the worst offender on the team imo for ill timed giveaways and headscratchingly stupid plays. i dont mind him being on the team but in the big moments i dont want him on the ice, period.
i feel like we need to take him away from keefe if thats ever going to happen lol.

hes a good dude and a decent 6/7, but he sees the ice too much here in important moments, even with a healthy d-core. but thats just my opinion lol.

The underlying stats weren't as kind to him tonight but he definitely passed the eye test again. Seems to always know where to be and the right play to make. Also picked up his first point with an assist on the power play goal.
