Yes it was a joke about the Coyotes playing at ASU.Pretty sure it was a Coyotes arena joke.

Somewhat a fair comment, but it's still an overall younger weak group. One that could slow development down of the younger guys if they start getting in over their heads.Capfriendly has the total pay of D @ $7.6M. Still could see Dumba signing there, JJ Moser is underrated, Valimaki has stepped up, Durzi will be playing his natural position (as well as Moser).
With Coach Tourigny, can't see it happening.Somewhat a fair comment, but it's still an overall younger weak group. One that could slow development down of the younger guys if they start getting in over their heads.
If he signs his ELC he can't play in college.
You missed the joke.He can’t play in college under s pro contract.
If he signed after his NCAA season ends, his ELC would still finish in 2026. No need to sign just to get to free agency faster.Regardless of whether or not he wants to specifically be in Arizona, this is still the much better decision.
It's not hard to get to your desired spot while still in your prime. Light it up for 3 years, sign a 2 or 3 year bridge, then if you feel as if you dont wanna be there long term and want UFA ASAP, tell them after that that you have no intention of signing long term into your UFA years during that final 1-2 years of RFA. The quicker you stop dragging your feet and get the clock started, the better for everyone involved.
...and bypass Tempe?I'm guessing he skips Tucsuon and goes straight to Phoenix
If they add Dumba on top of Durzi it's still bad but it'll be better.Coyotes top 9 is starting to look promising. Cooley, Guenther, Hayton and Maccelli are 23 or younger, and then more experienced Keller, Schmaltz, Crouse, Zucker and Kerfoot. Couple of promising prospects too to replace short-term vets in the future.
That defence though...
Meh, if Dumba was that kind of player he would already be signed. Not sure he's much better than Stecher at this point. If they add Dumba on top of Durzi it's still bad but it'll be better.
McBain is 23 too, Bjugstad and boyd (35 y 34 pts last 2 years) and the 4th line not bad, and 13th F carcone led AHL in scoringCoyotes top 9 is starting to look promising. I am honestly curious if you've ever watched either Dumba or Durzi. My guess is they're going to sign Dumba shortly and Cooley bought in to their pitch of trying this year. Zucker and Durzi are good and Vejmelka is the best goalie you've never heard of, I doubt they'll make the playoffs but they could be a mid 80's point team.
If they add Dumba on top of Durzi it's still bad but it'll be better.
the D is young; durzi/ valimaki both 24, moser 23, soderstrum 22 (stetcher y brown are vets but bottom pair NHLers).Meh, if Dumba was that kind of player he would already be signed. Not sure he's much better than Stecher at this point.
If you want to be generous and assume all these players succeed, you can say that Moser, Välimäki, Durzi and Söderström could be a good bottom 4 group. Even in that "best case" scenario, Coyotes are still missing a whole 1st pairing.
Could have burned an ELC year had he made the decision to sign when his season ended.
Can't even recall an NCAA player opting to sign in the summer (who wasn't going to be one of those UFAs) when they easily could have signed in April and had the clout to get an ELC year burned.
from last years top 12 F -Arizona was 27th in goals per game last year, what the heck are you talking about?
What an idiotic statement.hmmm i think that is a reference to the Mullet Arena and the fact that it is possible that the top NCAA teams can take the Coyotes.
Yeah, OK.Sign and trade for some others team B-prospect + 2nd + 3rd
If you’re gonna play in a college rink, might as well get paid for it.
Wouldn't there be 10 regular season games between the Frozen Four finishing and the end of the NHL regular season? I remember guys burning their first year who went deep in the NCAA tournamentNope. Cooley's contract would have slid as he is 19 years old. That's why there was no urgency to sign at the end of the season.
Also if Cooley had signed in April he wouldn't be able to get anywhere near maximum bonus clauses in his contract due to how the contract rules work. If he signs now he can get up to the maximum $3.5m in bonuses each season.
Yes it is young, but I'm not really seeing the kind of high-end talent that some in the forward group have. Could be a good bottom 4 group though like I said.the D is young; durzi/ valimaki both 24, moser 23, soderstrum 22 (stetcher y brown are vets but bottom pair NHLers).
Funny you mention that, because when you play for a competitive team that goes deep into the NCAA tournament, you have to make a snap decision. Clearly he wasn't ready to make it at the time, but if he could go back in time, I bet he'd have signed for the last few games of the 22-23 regular season to burn a year.If he signed after his NCAA season ends, his ELC would still finish in 2026. No need to sign just to get to free agency faster.
making fun of those teams in a thread about the Coyotes and their players is no fun at allWhat an idiotic statement.
If an NCAA team can beat the Yotes then surely they will beat the Habs and San Jose and Chicago and Columbus and Anaheim? You know, the teams worse than them last year.
Yeah, OK.
