Everyone knows why, the question is whether they would help or hurt a team like this. Doesn't look like it did either.

You don't need to follow Lous rules to win. Many cups have been won by players wearing high numbers or having long hair.
Facial hair is slowing us down confirmed

We should not make a trade for the sake of making a trade, but I do think we have to explore the possibility of a shakeup and I'm disappointed Dubas appears to have dismissed that out-of-hand.

So, I voted yes.

Tampa failed miserably for a long time and even tho leafs dont have yzerman contracts they have a good shot at a cup if they hold tight IMO

No they didn't. In the 5 years before winning the Cup they won 7 playoff series, made it to the Stanley Cup Finals, and made it to two other Conference Finals (2015 was also Kucherov's first year as a legit top line player, so it makes sense to count from there).. They were probably more successful than any other team that hadn't won a Cup in that stretch.

Tampa
2015 - made it to the Stanley Cup Finals (3 series wins)
2016 - made it to the Eastern Conference Finals (2 series wins)
2017 - missed the playoffs (Stamkos was injured pretty much all season and Point was a rookie)
2018 - made it to the Eastern Conference Finals (2 series wins)
2019 - out in 1st round
2020 - won the Stanley Cup

Toronto
2017 - out in 1st round
2018 - out in 1st round
2019 - out in 1st round
2020 - missed the playoffs (lost in the play-in series)
2021 - out in 1st round

These are NOT comparable to each other. It's a really lazy/uninformed narrative that should stop.

Well agree to disagree. Obv. Not exactly same situation. Althought TB had some playoff succuss, leafs core younger. Also only the number of championships is what matters most (for example . Obv. Bad feeling esp. At 1st going out against a bottom seed like canadiens, but then see avs, garys knights drop out and the season for a failure for all 3 parties)

No I’m not disappointed they are sticking with the core.

I am just disappointed that the core didn’t put up points outside of Nylander. If there is one player I would look to trade, it would be Marner if he fails again in the playoffs.

Tampa was a roller coaster at the beginning. Yeah they won a round or two but they were also terrible to be bottom in the league and draft Drouin in those years, missed the playoffs the first year we made it etc.

As much as I do not like losing, I also don’t mind persisting with the core.

I think the Leafs are hoping that one of these years, we have every member of the core playing lights out like Nylander did against the Habs.

Imagine if we have 4 guys going over PPG in the playoffs? That would be near unstoppable to beat.

At the end of the day this is down to ownership. Are they satisfied that the status quo is good enough both in terms of current management and the makeup of the team ? Higher expectations need to come from the top. Settling with making the playoffs and flaming out in the first round year after year doesn’t happen in top organizations. Management and the players need more accountability. Otherwise the results will be the same.

Agree 100%. Top organizations in their respective sports like Man U, the Lakers, Yankees etc. don't accept failure and treat it as a learning experience. They build a culture where winning is the expectation, anything less is failure and there are consequences for losing. This organization likes to talk a big game, but there's no accountability and the culture of losing is palpable.

Does this picture not exemplify what's wrong with the leafs?

Now this is called “living with your head buried in the sand”.
If people wonder why this board is so pissed it’s the sheer arrogance of Shanahan and Dubas thinking they know better than the rest of the league, this experiment will end badly with all the elite kids jumping ship ASAP. Trade any or all of them, I don’t care, recoup assets before they leave. None will resign here, book it........

They will have to because when you need to fill so much of the roster with low dollar players that either have little skill or over the hill veterans

I’m hoping and praying that as soon as the cup is awarded Leafs ownership will demand changes made.
Hopefully one of Keefe, Dubas or Shanny goes.
If given the choice it would be Keefe first…….I think that’s mandatory.
It would be nice to be rid of Dubas but if he dumps Keefe it would at least show he was trying to address the issues.
As far as players I would love to see Tavares gone and his 11 freed up but I know that will never happen so it has to be Marner. You need his entitlement out of the dressing room

If he dumps Keefe he will be admitting that his vision is flawed. Afterall Keefe was brought in to play the way Dubas wanted, when clearly Babs would not. As much as Babs was a dummy for his treatment of players, he knew what it took to win in the playoffs. Dubas has no clue and I'd be willing to bet Shanny is behind his moves to make the team more difficult to play against. Dubas and this team are frauds.

And I don't hate Keefe. He's just the wrong coach. This team needs a structured defensive minded coach.

I noticed that TB played a slow it down game with no mistakes against the NYI in game 7. They did not give them anything extra and said " You want to play rope-a-dope?..we can play that way too" and then depended on their skill to crack in a goal. They were patient all the way through because they don't care if the win is sexy and high scoring...they just wanted a win. I don't think Keefe wants to do that because then people will be screaming about the high priced players not scoring (even though that happened anyway) and they are a waste of money.

How do you stick with a core who don't stand up for each other? Who disappear in tight checking games, who repeatedly don't start on time or put in half assed efforts? And in the case of Marner try and dictate where they play?
You do when the alternative is admitting you are wrong besides
He can and he will.
What I can’t believe, is Shanny continuing to support this mess after 4 years of failure and one year of not even making the playoffs by loosing in the playin tournament
