Running Dougie Hamilton and Quinn Hughes on the same team is surefire way to get lit up.

Not like whoever else would be playing in thier place would be any better defensively.

Also, Hamilton has been pretty good defensively according to the advanced metrics over the past few years. Whether that was Because of Carolina or not is to be seen.

I don't think NJ would be interested in acquiring Quinn in a trade beyond being Jack's brother. Look at NJ's recent additions on defense. Hamilton, Graves, Jaros, Siegenthaler, Hurtig, Mukhamadullin, Bahl, even Luke Hughes, are all tall and rangy. Quinn is a fantastic player, but he's not that sort of defender. NJ would likely have to move on from Ty Smith and while Quinn is certainly a more dynamic player, Smith has more developing to do and may be more well rounded a defender when all is said and done which NJ might prefer. If nothing else, I expect Smith to be less expensive than Quinn which helps as the other young players become more costly. Smith is also Jack's roommate and they are close friends.

I'm sure when the day comes that Jack and Quinn both hit UFA they will try to find a landing spot that appeals to them and will pay them. Frankly, I don't think any team is crossed off their list. My guess is that it will come down to who is willing to pay them the most. I don't think pretty scenery or proximity to nightclubs and other celebrities will enter into it. I don't see any Hughes ever leaving a nickel on the table (I'm not suggesting they should) but whoever they play for will almost certainly pay top dollar for it even if they play together.

You could easily get a much cheaper player that's better than Quinn Hughes defensively, he's one of the worst in the league.

Yes lets wonder if playing with one of the leagues best defensive defenseman has an effect on his numbers.... there's a reason why this guy is passed around so many times.

They should just lock up any thread that mentions a Hughes brother getting traded, NJ wouldn't be willing to pay the price that Vancouver would be asking for and Vancouver lacks the assets the Devils would want for Jack/Luke

These threads are pointless and silly at this point

I will not trade Hugues for Ty Smith. Why trade a small defenceman for another one.
Starting point will be NJ 1 round pick ,Kevin Bahl and something else maybe Mercer.

Quinn Hughes is never traded to New Jersey. The likely hood of Quinn Hughes signing in new jersey when he becomes ufa in 4 years is very likely.

Because teams make poor decisions all the time.

Carolina is cheap.

Hamilton was amazing and their best overall Dman for them...he wasn't let go because of performance issues at all. He gave them Norris level play.

No proof that he was carried by Slavin of any sort.

The thing that fascinates me more is if the Canucks bridge Hughes and allow for the Devils to potentially offer sheet in the future (and whether the Devils would do that).
“Potentially” as in it would never happen.

The Devils have zero reason to give up significant assets to acquire Quinn Hughes. The most logical path for Quinn to join the Devils will be in summer of 2026, 2027, or 2028 when he is a UFA and will likely sign here if the Devils have the cap space and both Jack and Luke are still on the roster.
Or he can stay in Vancouver. Or who knows but just maybe when he’s a 27 year old man, playing with his brothers might not be the biggest reason to choose to sign with a team long term.

I honestly believe uniting the Hughes brother is a mistake.

Your team will have 3 players who are so interlocked, you can’t make any moves on one without seriously impacting the other.

The 3 brothers will also be the dominant voice in the locker room, which could be a double edged sword depends on how mature they are.

Thats the problem - Ty and Jack have become best friends it seems

Obviously Jack would love Quinn here but I doubt hed enjoy Ty going the other way
You can't be serious right.

1st of all how would you know if they were best friends or not. 2nd even if they were friends, he's going to complain because his team traded for his brother?

Stop fanboying and try thinking.

Because Hughes and Smith live together and Hughes said he’s his best friend (on the team, I don’t think/know if he meant on earth). He even talked about getting a bigger apartment for when Luke arrives. (It was banter in a interview, they will presumably become fully functional adults who live on their on at some point.)

The fixation on interpersonal relationships is annoying but they have a real adorbs friendship. Don’t be so grumpy. This a fantasy trade page, nothing matters on it.

i have zero idea, if the devils are interested in quinn hughes. as a devils fan i am definitely tired of the topic.
roster wise quinn hughes is a luxury, the devils shouldn't spend trade assets on and/or allocate cap space to. ty smith is from the same draft year and provides a lot of the same qualities.

There is a limited amount of PP opportunities. When you can't give PMDs a shot to put up points, they'll start to sulk.

At what point do we look at all the trade proposals around here and see an insane lack of offers from Devils fans, but more than enough "I'd trade Quinn for X+Y," from Canuck fans that we change the question?

Are the Canucks interested in getting rid of Quinn Hughes?

Every team in the league would be interested.

As far as the brothers go... do they even care?
