If it wasn't for his brothers no one would think this.

Like they already have a best that you could hope for Quinne development in Hamilton.

I think all 3 of Hughes want to play together, I think Quinn Hughes will play in Vancouver for 4-5 years and when he is a UFA(he will structure his contract that way), he will go to the Devils. By that time the Devils should be contenders.

Why not the other way? Wouldn't Vancouver be a contender too by that time? Why would they rather be in Jersey than Vancouver is beyond me. No offence to people from New Jersey, but Vancouver and the whole surrounding area is just stunning. People should want to come to Vancouver, easily.

The Devils have zero reason to give up significant assets to acquire Quinn Hughes. The most logical path for Quinn to join the Devils will be in summer of 2026, 2027, or 2028 when he is a UFA and will likely sign here if the Devils have the cap space and both Jack and Luke are still on the roster.

Yeah no one wants to be right by NYC. If it’s one thing 20 year olds love it’s stunning scenery.

So no, nothing has changed. Thank you to Devils fans for showing interest, I know the OP isn't one of you, but I see no reason to move Hughes what so ever. Benning's stupid as hell, but he has almost 14 million before Motte is on the LTIR for Hughes and Pettersson. If he can't get something done, every school system he's been a part of needs to be sued back to the stone age for graduating him, because no one that stupid should be allowed through.

I know you mentioned op not being a Devils fan, but I actually don't think even one person you quoted is a Devils fan..... I'd feel pretty confident to say the majority is in the "if it happens through UFA, great" category.

New Jersey has two Hughes and they are from the US and they will have a lost less pressure playing in New Jersey.

Ever since Luke was drafted by the Devils, fans have speculated that Quinn wouldn't be opposed to playing with the Devils as well. Of course, it's just that... speculation. Quinn has never stated publicly his preference is to join his brothers in New Jersey, however, it's easy to see why such a move would be appealing not only to him, but the entire Hughes family...

But are the Devils interested in Quinn Hughes?

We know he's offensively gifted, but given his struggles defensively, would New Jersey give up the assets to acquire him if he could be had at fair market value?

If so, what do you think a fair market trade would look like?
Obviously Ty Smith is going the other way. What else jersey adds is how you find a deal or not. Ty Smith is a must part of the base. I’d assume Vancouver also wants a high pick and probably a player.

Agree. Will never understand the HFB obsession with having siblings play together or constantly discussing trading players that are not on the market.
The NHL has one. Dach, Makar, Hughes. All three saw bros drafted in just 2021 alone.

you didn’t find that odd? HF had no impact on that happening. None.

Other way around. We'd happily trade Pettersson for L and J Hughes.
Then give Quinn his big contract that he wants, and lean into the family thing!

If you strip all the family connections, Quinn stylistically isn't a good fit. Hamilton, Smith, Subban (if we resign him) and even Severson are more offensive dmen like Quinn is. Not to mention Luke if he reaches his potential. Devils really need an elite shutdown D or two, and according to Avs fans Graves isn't it. Siegenthaler also has a long way to go and I doubt the word elite will ever be in the same sentence with him.

So the price is too much and Quinn seems happy at Vancouver anyway. Lets see how both of these teams look in a few years (or when he hits ufa) if it makes more sense.

They probably are. Can't imagine they're interested in giving up what it'd likely take to get him though. So we move on.

2 out of 3 isn't bad

If Severson isnt anything special , whats your take on the Canucks current D core???
Severson would be your best D outside of Hughes
I'm not a Canucks fan.

Severson was good early on but he hasn't been as good lately, and I know a lot of Devils fans agree with me.

i know you're probably kidding, but it would take a hell of a lot more than EP, as much as i love him.

He'll be 31 at the earliest by the time the Devils no longer hold Luke's rights
