Domi [UFA year] for a [top 10] 1st + A prospect when he had that one good year is still one of my faves.

Or Huberdeau when at peak value for Lehkonen [RFA year] + Armia [UFA year] + 3rd
I think who ever posted either one forgot the :sarcasm: or really pulled the blankets over your eyes .

Liam O'Brien
Austin Watson
Tanner Jeannot
Brady Tkachuk
Max Domi
Evander Kane
Radko Gudas
Jonah Gadjovich

All have close to a a penalty per game or over. Care to try again?
Literally none of those players have taken more than a penalty per game

O’Brien has taken 15 penalties in 27 games

Tkachuk has 15 in 22 (and has drawn 17)

Domi has 12 in 25

Jeannot has 15 in 29

Kane has 16 in 25

Gudas has 17 in 26

Gadjovich has 8 in 9 but isn’t a regular player.

The only one who’s close to Wilson and Xhekaj is Watson, who has 12 in 15. You could count Tlachuk too, but his penalty differential seems to discount him from comparison to the others.

Care to try again?

O'Brien has average 2.4 minutes per game in penalties this season
Tkachuk .......................2.3
Just to name a few,

No need to move Xhekaj, in fact he will become much more valuable in a couple of years. What did the Habs get for Ben Chariot a couple of years ago??

Smilanic and Guindon.
Then they send 31st pick (Gulyayev) along with an early 2nd Gauthier (37th) to get Newhook.

is that good?

Gulyayev and Gauthier might turn out to be best 2 players in that deal. We will know in 3-4 yrs.

Not a fair comparison.... Chiarot was a proven top 4 who had been a solid contributor to a run to the Finals the year before, was having a great year, and we all know rental prices are very high.

Absolutely none of that applies to Xhekaj, he has a lot of potential, and at his best could be better than Chiarot's best, but he isn't there yet, isn't a rental, etc.

What happens to Newhook, Gulyayev and Gauthier is irrelevant to evaluating what Chiarot returned.

Not sure i follow. As long as you got a 1st that will never play for you you are happy with the result? If Newhook tops at 30 i would have keep the first and 2nd.

Please share the comparables to come up with this valuation or pass whatever you're smoking...one or the other

Undrafted
22yrs old
Playing in AHL
Averaging 15:08/game in the NHL games he's played

Why exactly would that garner anthing more than a mid-round pick?
Where's your example showing he's worth anything remotely noteworthy?

Because he fights. And drafted his brother.
3rd pair ld have value too.

Its not rational.
OP just stirred the pot a little. Slow days in Habs‘ schedule.

The Chiarot trade and Newhook deals are independent events. As are the Newhook deal and what Colorado did with those picks.

Perhaps the potential some see in him? 22 year olds aren't traded based on immediate contributions.

Also Mark Giordano fits your profile, he was undrafted, in the AHL at 22, as well. I'm not saying Xhekaj will turn out that good... but he isn't stuck as a #3ld either.

Romanov fetched Habs a first rounder so there is certainly hope.
Whats his name? Is he any good?

Mtl gave Romanov, 13th pick Nazar, 66th Gavin Hayes, 98th pick George for Dach.
Romanov has been canceled but he plays 20-22 mins (2nd pair) on a good playoff team.

This discussion is meritless. Montreal is as likely to trade Li’l Abner as they are trading the Jacques Cartier Bridge.

I guess trade trees only exist when they fit the narrative. Its ok. Lets agree to disagree.

Your team protector usually takes at least a penalty a game or he isn't doing his job.
So the team protectors job is to take slashing, roughing and boarding penalties to give the opposing team powerplays and potential goals? I doubt that's true as wifi only has 3 games were he could of possibly had a fight. With logic like that it explains why Montreal doesn't win much.
