Anze Kopitar (MOD WARNING Post #52)

Kopi going to be a father. Just announced.

Well that explains it. It is a funny coincidence how poorly some guys have played during the season when their wives are expecting.

On the other hand, Patrick Roy's wife gave birth the same night the Habs played Game 1 against the Kings in '93, except it had an adverse effect and he stonewalled the Kings after that loss.

I have a theory just based on observation, that Patrick Roy has psychopathic tendencies in his desire to win. It's all correlated.

I'm surprised so many people still hope for superstar numbers from Kopitar. He's not that guy.

I am asking for career average numbers, of which he will not hit this year most likely.

In fact he is on pace for a career worst year, in his prime no less.

Terrible.

If you can't get up for the Buffalo Sabers 30 games into the season, while having a career worse year....Kopitar my man, you disappoint me.

Yeah, Buffalo is an opponent that most great players would look at as a slump buster.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but his current scoring slump is going to get worse for the rest of the season, to the point it costs the Kings a playoff appearance at the very worst.

I do not find it funny myself.

I'm sorry but Kopitar HAS to be injured. He can't even stay on his feet.

Not injured, out of shape.

He is making mistakes that out of shape players make. It was a short off-season.

Kopitar won a cup, got married, pretty sure he probably got his own place.

It's not out of the realm of possibility he slacked off on his training.

Well, he's saving the Kings a lot of money on his next contract then.

Your theory can't be too off base. I think his success was based on the numerous conversations he had with the crossbar and goal posts before games.

The Kings are not a farm team, to the point even the Canadiens used the previous game to call out the Kings whether they're contenders (read: earning the legitimacy of West Coast hockey) or pretenders.

I wouldn't exactly call them contenders either. I'll tell you one thing, in a 7 game series, LA would destroy MTL. All last night proved was MTL jumped on the opportunities that were given. That game reminded me of the playoff game in SJ last year, where every mistake cost us a goal.

I think he's out of shape. He's got no speed at all and seems to glide everywhere. That's a bad sign from a pro athlete...

Wouldn't be the first time his cardio fitness would be called out.

Not out of the realm of possibility I guess, but how "out of shape" can a ****ing guy get from June to October? Especially a pro athlete. I mean, seriously?

Well, at least one positive to take away from Kopitar's completely lackluster, beyond-just-his-typical-slump play this season is that it's making it easier on DL come end of season.

How is he making it any easier for Dean? Are there any comparable 1C players out there that would sign for 8 mil or whatever you people want him to sign for because of one bad season? Sure, Richards, Brown and Gaborik get their wallets lined, but let's try to gauge Kopitar if we can. Cap goes up, salaries go up. That's how it goes. It's not Kopitars fault that Getzlaf or whoever signed his contract when salaries were lower. When Getzlaf signed the SC was 64mil, some projection for 15-16 that I saw had it pegged at 73.

10th on the team in assists right now. He has 1 more assist than Clifford for the year. We know he can seemingly go forever without scoring a goal, that's normal. He's always churning out the assists though, but not this season.
