Proposal: Free agency edition Trade Rumours/Proposals [MOD - Stay on Topic] 5

Yes, I don’t think that concept is as difficult for folks to understand as you seem to imagine. Staois hasn’t decided to move him so far. Maybe he’s thinking that they’d stick on LTIR if Norris has another serious injury - who knows. All we know is that he hasn’t pulled the trigger which given the rumoured poor returns doesn’t seem too surprising.

It would be nice if you name the source and attach the article in question as well.

Welcome to the Sens board (might be a recycled identity) ;)LOL.
I think we all know who loves to say "league executives are saying"

Also, Soucy is easily better than Hamonic... cmon.
So is Matinpalo. What's your point?
Matinpalo better be whispering in his ear during this tourney...
Matinpalo better be pressing a sharp object into the bottom of his rib cage for us to have a hope of signing Rantanen

I doubt this is true but if its the case, we should definitely look into it. Not sure we’d have the pieces to trade for him tbh.

1st round pick should probably be off the table considering we have to give one up already. If we trade it, it means we’d have made one 1st round selection in a span of 5 seasons. Not ideal i’d say

I'd probably deal a 1st for McCann, we are more or less in "win now" mode, and not to whine about it again, but our amateur scouts suck, lol, I'd rather take the 60 point guy over another sub-par prospect.

I doubt he's putting up 60 here though. He's a likely candidate of one of those guys that puts up a lot of points on a mediocre team because someone has to score the goals for them. He's not pushing anyone off PP1 here.

I hear you in general, but why would we want either of those players from Van. We are good on LD and Hoglander is a 5'9 Joseph making 3x3 starting next year.

We'd be better off giving Norris away for a 2nd and then signing better players / fits in UFA.

If VAN want Norris, then they are going to have to give us something we can actually use in return. Otherwise we can trade him to any team in the league.

I think VAN wants Norris just like we wanted Phaneuf.

They are going to take advantage of a limited market and we are not going to get back a piece anywhere close to what Norris brings when he isn't hurt and is playing at the top of his game.

I think that if it's true that the Senators have shopped him on and off since last TDL, that they don't want the liability of the contract. Whether right or wrong, I could see them thinking that by bringing in 2-3 NHL players for Norris that they give the team a better chance to win and also pass on the liability of his term to someone else.

Hoglander has neutral or negative value, but in all likelihood, so does Norris, that's the point. VAN will want to dump some term and money to subsidize taking Norris.

Thing is, Seattle runs a split powerplay a lot, and IIRC McCann was PP2 sometimes.

Here in Ottawa he'd be playing next to a true #1C in Stutzle, I think he'd do great.
