Active shooter Rockford?

Was reading this and seems like it's just a guy that shot a US Marshal to escape custody. No evidence that he's going to randomly go on a rampage. That's what I would consider an "active shooter". Someone opening up on the general public for no reason. This is just some wacko who shot a cop serving a warrant, while trying to escape custody, and is now actively running.

No apology necessary. Just letting you know since you're newer to here. No politics are allowed to be discussed, even in the "Anything Goes" thread. Which is kinda funny in and of itself. Since obviously it's not "anything goes".
Cool, I see you are in IT admin. I just retired as an IT architect last year. What platforms do you support? Mostly Linux or a mix with Microsoft thrown in?

I kind of like that, with all going on on both sides of the border, theres a place i can go where politics just are not a topic of discussion.

Techie opinión question. Are you a fan of AWS or Azure?

Azure. AINEC for me. I'm a Windows admin, so it's a more seamless transition being a Windows platform. And the integration with AD(among other things) makes things nice.

Edit: Haven't dealt with either all that much, though, TBH. We're still running on-prem hosts for our branches. It's not a giant company that I work for. Haven't gone to the Cloud all that much, yet, and I don't think we have plans to. Maybe a hybrid environment utilizing Azure at some point, but for the time being, we're staying how we are. Need to roll out Windows 10 to all company machines and also get all our old VMs changed over to newer Server versions at the moment. That's our big project this year.

I worked in Financial Services for 13 years and we had a decent heterogenous environment my last 3 years. We had VMware clusters, Netapp storage, HP switches, and a primarily Windows 2008 R2 Server platform with Win 7 desktops. It was fun and challenging.

There are a few of us IT guys here. My brother worked in financial services for a long time as an IT/Server administrator, also, IIRC. He's in medical IT now, though.

The big challenge to working in FS as we call it is being compliant. IT security is such a big deal for the obvious reasons.

All Northbound/Southbound lanes of I55 near Lincoln have been shut down
Unreal he made it that far.

Well this Friday just got real interesting. Couple bombshells at work just dropped with some high ups leaving the company.

This quite possibly could help clear up a lot of frustrations I’ve had lately, including a shot at a promotion but at the bare minimum a raise.

Legit spring weather FINALLY in the forecast. Great winter season but it’s time to switch gears and mountain bike regularly again.

There are few things more depressing than being on a two week business trip in the freezing cold and sitting alone in your hotel room on a Friday night eating a veggie burger from Burger King.

Where the hell are you?

While I don’t care for morning star veggie burgers (they have egg whites) I’ll give them credit for at least offering one.

Having a bit of a potential landlord situation. Long story short they want rent to be paid in cash every month. They don’t want a check, they don’t want an etransfer (Venmo/Quickpay), they just want cash. They’re nice people and I don’t think they’d ever try to pull something on us but our rent is high and without an easily referenced history of payment it makes me a little weary. AFAIK there’s technically nothing really stopping them from saying “we haven’t received rent from you in 6 months and we want our money” if there’s no proof of payment.

Last month I just printed out a word document saying “this document acknowledges the receiving of rent on this day March 1st 2019 from -insert my name- to -insert my Landlord’s name- for -insert rent amount-“

Then it was dated and signed by both of us. I’m concerned that it’s not sufficient enough proof, just in case my landlord is a total scumbag and tries to say we haven’t paid rent.

Granted, the guy has owned and rented out this apartment for almost a decade to at least 3 different tenants, the building knows him, and he’s a doctor FWIW. I don’t think he’s a bad guy. This is all just precautionary.

If anyone knows whether or not a signed Word document is enough, or any other form of action I should be taking id appreciate it.
