Hey, in my defense, I asked you a couple months ago, already, not just today. ;)

We're out of MB Arena, actually. We have a B team that plays out of Johnny's still, but it'll be a while before you'd be ready for that. Hell, I've been back playing for about a year and a half or two years now, and I'm not ready for B. Timing still isn't what it needs to be. Conditioning still isn't what it needs to be. Need to get back into way better shape.

Yeah, definitely not ready for Johnny's B league yet. I didn't know MB had senior leagues. Nice.

Senior as in... adult?

The MB C league is mostly 20's and 30's with some better 40's or 50's mixed in. Their B league is probably closer to Johnny's C league, but it's still competitive. Lots of teams are starting to move away from Johnny's and over to MB because they're assholes over at Johnny's.

Ha, yeah it's gonna be a little while until I'm ready for that. Then I'll be taking offers, I'll give you my agent's number.

Hockey's so funny like that. I mentioned this yesterday and you're the third person to mention joining their team already since. Bunch of scavengers! You skate at Johnny's?

BK, got Bauer Supremes. I've had Vapors for years but Bauer has this fancy foot sensor thing now where it scans your feet and legs and decides which model fit you best. I tried on both and actually liked the Supreme fit much better and went with those. Happy so far.

I could never wear Bauer. It was always Grafs especially for my goalie skates. Now I wear CCMs and love them but I am not doing much in them.

Never was a fan of Bauer. Was always a CCM Tacks guy. Have wider feet, so they always felt better. Right now I'm in some Eastons, but I'm looking to upgrade late summer or fall back into some CCMs.

I've had Bauer most of my life. Think I started in Peewee and have had them ever since.

Yeah I don't know why I said Senior....cuz I'm old and my brain doesn't work today.

You're only a couple years older than me. ;)

Honestly, your best bet to get back would be to come play in these C league games... it's the quickest way to get your timing back, get your legs back, and get your conditioning back. You just can't do enough in open skates. Rat hockey is alright, but IDK what your work schedule is like. Most are during the day. Last weekend we played a game with 7 guys. Just 6 months ago I'd have been dead, but I was fine in the third period, surprisingly. A game once a week will do wonders. :thumbu:

How many rolls of tape to you have to use on your ankles? My brother wore Eastons and he had a deep ankle bend (support).

None, but the support isn't that great in them. I just tie em tight as shit with wax laces. I picked em up cheap when I was just getting back into playing, and now I'm looking to upgrade since I'm back to playing regularly. Just trying to decide if I wanna go Tacks, Ribcor, or Jetspeed.

I think in a month or two I'll be ready to look to play in games. I need to buy a bunch of gear though, too. Pretty much starting from scratch so, it'll be a little bit. The urgency to jump back in now was work-related but I definitely wouldn't playing a bit again. I have no ego so I don't care if it's C league or wherever, wherever it's fun and even semi-competitive while I get it back I'm good.

It's competitive most the time. There are some garbage teams, but that's every league.

If you're ready then, should be just in time for the summer session to start. This one runs to May, I believe. Then summer runs from May - August.

That may be right up my alley. We'll definitely be in touch.

I have the Jetspeed and love them but I bought them from a buddy who still plays pro. They are really stiff which I like plus I put custom Tydan steel blades on them. I only use them to skate with my daughter at this point but that is fine with me.

"The Comeback" update: Skated today at a "Stick and Puck" on my lunch break (rink about 10 mins from my office) which is basically just open ice, can shoot, work on skills, etc. No games or anything. My first skate earlier in the week was just a public skate. Today went LIGHT YEARS better. Like, night and day. Super encouraging. Still a ways to go but was feeling so much better today. I think having a stick helped, honestly. Just makes the balance and sense of self feel better. Good day today.

I haven't even played a rat game yet and I'm realizing all over again how much f***ing fun hockey is and how much I've missed it and didn't even realize it.

Wait until you find out how badly your hands have gone. I've found the skating comes back, the hands....

23 year old cop shot and killed two blocks away from my apartment last night. Just terrible. Who would do something like that? Wish there was a hell for people like that to go to.

I don't know if I could ever play again. I wasn't good when I did, but at least my conditioning was okay.

Watching is more my speed these days
