Anyone else concerned about Tavares?

This is who Tavares is though. An overpaid and underwhelming PPG.

That said, I'm anticipating a more refreshed Tavares for games 3 & 4 with the extra days off.

He's been off since game 7 vs Tampa

He is just as streaky as he was before.

3 goals one game. A series OT winner, etc.

Other nights just not so great.

The level of John Tavares' suckage can be measured by the fact that he's this generation's biggest OT hero, and a week later he's a ghost and his team is dead in the ditch. If not for PP cookies, this guy would probably be a giving you third line center minutes with problematic skating.

Well, 2 more years of JT until the Toronto Maple Leafs get out of cap jail.

i was concerned from the minute we signed him but all the hypocrites who cried for a “proper rebuild” and to “follow the process” became giddy little kids the minute this franchise had some rookies half decent at hockey and couldn’t stick to the long term plan because of being delusional enough to think this team actually had a chance to go all the way. This franchise would be so much better if we didn’t trade for boyle at the deadline, tossed bozak and jvr out at the deadline for high picks, didn’t acquire marleau who corrupted the soul of matthews and marner teaching them it’s okay to be very high skill and just coast by, only to then trade away a first to dump his contract. We were too mentally soft and greedy to actually stick to the plan and everyone sold out.

From whining that we need to stop signing stars on the down part of their career and draft our own stars to going completely gaga at the thought of signing stamkos/tavares…. on the down parts of their careers. Without integrity it’s hard to accomplish things in life.

Can't we void his contract??

A contract needs to be valid only when both parties are of sound mind. Obviously Wonder Boy was out to left field that day.

the entire fanbase/city was in all honesty. The spirit in the air all plays a factor. Not trying to be all woowoo but management is human and humans are impacted by that shyt. I mean imagine being dubas and fans who screamed for a proper rebuild for years are now just in your ear telling you to sign stamkos and they’ll go all the way. Sign JT and the cup is coming home. Sign peitrangelo and this team is unbeatable. Toronto is a very unstable place which is our detriment.

I think Tyler Bozak was more impactful than JT has been these playoffs

6 pts in 9 games making 11M abd top PP unit

Scored a flukey OT winner in G6 but he is truly ass
Flukey goal or not he still put it in and helped the Leafs win the series against Tampa. I wouldn't care if he had another flukey goal this game and won the OT against the Panthers tonight.

Tavares hasn't been amazing, but he's done alright so far in the playoffs. Wish he could do more, but its Matthews, Marner and Nylander that we're look at to carry the load and all three have been underperforming so far.

I said Tavares wasn't worth more than 4 mil, and I was wrong.

He's like a 4th line center outside of faceoffs and PP.

Tavares makes more than Marner and Nylander, he wears the C. You're trying to tell me he shouldn't be counted on for production and 5v5 play? That's just grossly incorrect.

All 4 have been dog shit, don't get me wrong. JT does not get a pass, he signed that contract and he has to earn it.

Of course Tavares could be producing more, but the Leafs should be counting on their young stars to lead the way the same as the Oilers are counting on McDavid and Drai to lead the way and not Nuge, Hyman, Kane etc. to lead the team.

McDavid and Drai are the difference between the Oilers getting beyond the 1st round and being tied 1-1 against Vegas and probably not even making the playoffs without them. That's what the Leafs young stars haven't been doing enough so far where they've done well enough to win a round and then underperforming in the 2nd round.
