Tavares was good exactly 1 season for the leafs, his first.
Disaster afterwards.
Disaster afterwards.
That OT winner sure saved his bacon, cause outside of that he's been absolute garbage this postseason.
Flukey goal or not he still put it in and helped the Leafs win the series against Tampa. I wouldn't care if he had another flukey goal this game and won the OT against the Panthers tonight.
Tavares hasn't been amazing, but he's done alright so far in the playoffs. Wish he could do more, but its Matthews, Marner and Nylander that we're look at to carry the load and all three have been underperforming so far.
If he was offered $13 (no proof that he was) and took $11 here, that's a discount, but it's irrelevant. He should not have been offered any more than maybe $9, probably on a shorter term, and definitely no NMC or NTC.Can we stop with the "Tavares took a discount" bullshit. The story is complete bullshit, probably put out there by Tavares agent and/or Dubas.
He got 23:37 last night?!?!?!
Good hands???? he had 20 dangerous chances in the Florida series. Probably 1 of those self generated. He is what he is. An old slow player with good hands.
The Leafs did NOT have to sign him.
I can understand the bad skating, but his hands are now matching his feetGood hands???? he had 20 dangerous chances in the Florida series. Probably 1 of those self generated.
He had 36 goals this year. That qualifies as "good hands". I never said he was clutch.Good hands???? he had 20 dangerous chances in the Florida series. Probably 1 of those self generated.
If hockey was all about standing still and stickhandling/shooting JT would still be elite, it's the whole 'skating' thing where it all falls apart. lmaoHe had 36 goals this year. That qualifies as "good hands". I never said he was clutch.
I agree. It's a liability. If hockey was all about standing still and stickhandling/shooting JT would still be elite, it's the whole 'skating' thing where it all falls apart. lmao
It really did. It set in motion a chain of events that completely screwed the team.Signing him completely and utterly f*cked us. I will not admit to have known better at the time though. Another cruel joke on leaf fans, as the joy of the July 1 quickly became a nightmare.
Dubas should have hung up the phone. Signing JT to that crazy contract killed the rebuild and here we are today facing the very possibility of at least a retoolHe was a UFA and held all the cards, he wrote down a number and Dubas said yes...I'd do the exact same thing if it was me.
