This feels like a turning point in the season, and for the worse.

The Leafs mediocre play all season long left me surprised that they still collected so many points.

Now, they're kind of at the end of the rope with goaltending.

The loss in New York suggested that they're at about the same level as the Islanders, and the loss to Colorado confirms that.

They are, at best, a bubble team. Definitely not a contender.

Look now for Detroit to beat them this evening, and then overtake the Leafs in the weeks to come.

Playoffs are not at all assured,

Feels like if the Leafs struggle and Keefe is doing Keefe things, we could get to a point where a coaching change becomes inevitable.

No, Brodie wasn't good for large stretches last year. Remember the has Brodie been quietly bad talking points.
Completely agree about his play throughout various stretches last season. And while we could anticipate the continuation of that slide I believe that most of us are surprised by the how sudden and steep that dropoff came about. Hence my thoughts on the matter.

I'm not sure what to say on starting Samsonov... you have to have some serious stones to do that.

I would love to know what they had Samsonov do with his time away from the team.. Spa days? Video games? Live with a sports psychologist and team of goalie coaches? Hire Mary Berg as a personal chef?

Both teams coming off a game. We have no travel though so should be slightly easier on us.

If I hear these guys are fatigued because it 's a back to back and they can't get up for 8-22 minutes tonight while I work 40-50 hour weeks and 8-16 hour days, I will laugh because it's simply not an excuse.

On the other hand, I suspect Samsonov gets torched.
Red Wings played last night and travelled. No excuses.

I put down 10 bucks on the DeadWings. Lol
If leafs and Sammy let me down, I win some cash, if they win, good on them, 10 bucks is just 10 bucks. (Had money from a past winning I used(

Win or lose, it will be a success for Samsonov to make it through to the end of the game.

I'm pretty sure the Leafs are trying to figure out how much farther they can go with him, or whether they should just throw him overboard for the duration of his contract.

At this point, every start could be his last game with the Leafs, until and unless he proves himself reliable.

You should have bet $13.55. Then you could go buy a Big Mac or something.

Win

Matthews grab a goal or two, maybe think about playmaking

Marner wake tf up, been utterly disappointing the entire season save for a handful of games

Nylander got paid, better not f***ing disappear like last night

Tavares…I just want that contract to run out, you won’t ever live up to expectations

Detroit wins they're a point behind us. We've got a couple of games in hand but a brutal road trip coming up.

But, if we win both of our games in hand we'll only be half a game back of second place in the conference.

I may just sit this one out. The last two blown games have me just a little peeved.

The Wings are the type of team the Leafs like to play against. Shouldn’t be too mucky.
Agreed. Detroit is very leaky defensively and doesn't play much of a physical game. There will be lots of open space out there tonight.

I'm gonna say this. I'd like to see Keefe bench Bertuzzi. I'd also like to see the big 3 split up entirely. Penguins won with Crosby, Malkin and Kessel all on different lines.

Knies - Matthews - Jarnkrok
Robertson - Tavares - Marner
Holmberg - Domi - Nylander
Same 4th line
Icetime to be distributed evenly across the top 3 lines.

Line 1 -
I find Knies has been relatively underwhelming recently, but I do like how he plays with Matthews. With Jarnkrok they can play a cycle-game, and be pretty effective.
Line 2 - Robertson has scored in 3 of his last 4. His energy is infectious, and having someone like Marner would unleash his shot. Marner also needs to be away from Matthews, switch it up. He's been hot garbage.
Line 3- Holmberg/Domi looked fantastic. Effective on the forecheck. Nylander always played best when leading his line, for instance Kerfoot-Galchenyuk, or when with Tavares.
Line 4 - What can I say, this line has been fantastic. Don't fix what ain't broke.

Bertuzzi has been a complete ghost. Guy doesn't show any care, like he's brought in to be a Bunting replacement, yet he doesn't bring much physical game, no agitation and isn't producing. Light a fire under his ass.
