It's disingenuous to look at his career average. Players get better, generally, as they get older, and Copp is no different. Even not counting his games with the Rangers, he had 74 points in his last 111 games with Winnipeg. That's a .667 ppg, which equates to 54.67 points over 82 games.Except he hasn't been a 50-60 point player in his career, that's my point. He's .42 ppg over his career. Hopefully this season isn't an outlier. If he can maintain anything close to his current level of play, he's clearly an ideal 2c.
If the Rangers re-sign him and he stays healthy, I think he'll have over 60 points next year playing with Panarin.
