Canes got outshot 33-24 but Freddy got them the win with the shutout.

Improves to 6-0-0 with a 1.33gaa and .956 sv%.

Puts him second in the league in gaa and sv% to...James Reimer.

He also sits second in Goals Saved Above Expected.
(for reference Campbell is 20th despite leading the NHL in games played)

Happy to keep watching Freddy shut up everyone who said he was done as a NHL goalie.

That said I expect Freddy to obviously drop off and hang around the top 7-10 goalies in the league, and Campbell to improve slightly (his play is better than his numbers) and hang around the top 15 goalies.

Good for Freddie. Glad he landed on his feet. Campbell beat him out as the starter in Toronto. I hope he continues to do well in Carolina, but doesn't play as well against the Leafs.

I don’t think anyone said he was done as an NHL Goalie. He was done here though.

The issue is Andersen has always been a great regular season goalie. In the playoffs.. the stinker goals start to happen 5/7-hole.

Theres a thread on the main board about how hes cooked. Some really clueless takes in there from many of the same shameless goofies you'd expect.

Stinker goals are far overstated. None were as bad as the pee wee floater Campbell let in (5 hole) to break the ice and put his team behind in a critical game 7.

Anderson is head and shoulders better than Campbell. This has always been obvious. Goaltending is just another area the Leafs have taken a step back in.

There's literally a thread titled "Fred Andersen is cooked as an NHL starter" on the main board started back in March. :)

I know I sure agreed at the time. Happy for him though, I wish him no ill will.

I don’t really look at the main board. I deal with enough stupid people on a daily basis

This.

How many of the same posters criticizing the Leafs for moving on would be saying “But it’s the regular season” if Freddie was 6-0 here

Instead of facing it he wasn’t the only problem problem still exist here

I’m happy for Andy , he took way to much shit from a fan base that needs for some reason to scapegoat 1 player for all the teams issues .

now unfortunately Mitch has become the chosen whipping boy

also the 2 clowns at the top Dubas/Shanny have no problem crawling into a hole and hiding to let this continue as a way to deflect attention away from themselves for the shit show they created

Not me.

He'll make an excellent scapegoat to pin all our team's issues on this season.

Basically the new Babcock...

Probably for the best Andersen left simply so everyone can see how truly bad this team is defensively, constantly hanging out their goalies to dry.

I guess you don't remember the most recent Bruins series where Andersen single handedly lost us game 7.. oh and Columbus where the softest goals in the league were squeeking by..

I think Andersen had a SV% of .936 against CLB. That's damn good and shows that overall, he was ... damn good. Not sure why some people expect goalies to be perfect and never allow any bad goals. It's also just bizarre how people can look at a team with half their payroll tied up in 4 forwards, watch the team not be able to score even one goal in the deciding game and blame the loss on the goalie. Truly mind blowing stuff.

I haven't seen too many posts that are critical of the Leafs moving on from Andersen. However if he was 6-0 here, I suspect we'd mostly be reading about the brilliant defense that Kid Kyle has assembled from the acolytes.

campbell was first in gsaa like 4 days Ago before Pittsburgh ping ponged 5 goals in off multiple people. Sample size is real.

Freddy is playing behind a team that knows to play defence.
Campbell doesn't.

???? not everything is about an agenda.

I supported Freddie. But no one can ignore that Freddie was completely horrific for the last 2 years of his contract. Despite multiple breaks to heal multiple injuries.

Even in his good years. Freddie was the second best goalie in 5 straight playoff series. He was the worst goalie in every single playoff series we played.

had to move on. Whether mrazek was the right move we will see.

Freddie was done here. Maybe it’s the market? But he had his chances.

Theres plenty of blame to go around but Anderson seemed to get a disproportionate amount of it. Campbell was bad in the final 3 games of the Montréal series but I wouldn’t point the finger at him, either. There’s a long list of things wrong with this team, goaltending isn’t even top 5.

I’ve been through this several times over the past few years and don’t intend to do it again. Now that Freddy is removed from the situation I’ll just let the results speak for themselves.

That was his best series and he was outplayed by korpi. Who is a backup.

It’s undisputed that he was the worst goalie in every playoff series here. That’s the issue.

if he turns it around. Good for him. But can’t change what happened over the past 2 years

Unfortunately this board has become so polar that a lot of people hated on and scapegoated Andy because he was a Lou addition and not a Dubas add. Therefore if you throw all the blame on Andy it couldn't have been Dubas fault the leafs got bounced again. Its the damn goalie Lou added.

It was laughably obvious. That being said he is a confidence player and his confidence here was shot. Needed to move on to regain his form I think
