Leafs struggle against teams that work hard and compete hard regardless of talent level.

Leafs hardest working player on a nightly basis now calls Edmonton home.

And that's all you need to know about them to know they will never win.

I 100% agree, and that’s literally every team come playoff time. The teams Dubas has put together are fundamentally flawed, he needs to go. A team that folds against hard working teams is simply no good.

No rush on the replacement, appoint an interim GM and begin a very thorough search. Then let the new guy make the major changes that are clearly necessary.

Don’t insult dollarama.
I miss the Jays. At least they played with heart and showed they cared. They were saddled with a poor manager, bad injuries, and bad early bullpen. The Leafs are saddled with a bad coach, bad GM, bad heartless players, bad defence, bad offence, bad fashion sense, bad moustache, and probably bad breath. I loathe this team right now.

I know it's just one bad loss, but holy. It is early in the season.

Perhaps everything that's happening now is an extension of the lame duck GM/ lame duck Coach.

We'll see...

I thought that during the Amazon documentary. Keefe has no influence in the room.
Yeah, you could tell the players tune him out, it was pretty brutal to watch.

Partly Keefe doesn’t seem like a very good communicator, but I also think it’s just a toxic dressing room. A bunch of entitled individuals who don’t want to listen to a coach and buy in.

Comparing the vibe of the Leafs dressing room in “All or Nothing” to the Pens dressing room in “24/7”, it’s night and day. The Pens were (and probably still are) a tight, professional group that respect the coach, buy in, and behave as a team. The Leafs just looked like a bunch of rich kids not paying attention in class.

Waiting for the Leafs next is Freddy Andersen on Monday in Carolina who is 4-0-0 on the season with a 2.0 GAA and .944 sv%.

Things are not going to get any easier for the Leafs, and they're going to have to find a way to get out of this on their own merits.

It's definitely both. Matthews and Marner are losers, which put Keefe in an impossible spot.... but even if it was possible, he couldn't do it...

dreadful to watch but I'm waiting until at least a dozen games are played before I think any major changes should happen. After that, a serious look at the coach should be the first order of business.

I gotta give a buddy of mine alot of credit. I was at his place watching the infamous JT's first game back in Long Island game and I remember him saying to me immediately after that game was over that the Leafs weren't going to win anything with this current core. And I ripped on him, not just that night but for months after. I told him "How can you make this claim just off one bad game"? and he said I saw enough out of this team in this one game where their give a shit meter in big moments and special games is completely off the radar, they have no heart whatsoever and no compete and no will to win when the going gets tough.

And Low and behold, fast forward almost two years and he's being vindicated more and more with each passing game. Like I said, I got to give him credit.

And if that is the case (I would agree with you) Lou would've done something about it by now. We wouldn't be sat here saying I think we should give them one last chance, every single week.
I thought the right thing to do was trade Mitch after the Columbus loss, and I like Marner. But I can't blame a GM for not trading a perennial (up to now at least) 90pt player at the age of 22-23. I don't think there are many examples in history of trading players with that much talent at that age, and coming out ahead in the trade.

Maybe Lou would have traded Marner before he signed his 2nd contract after his ELC, because I cannot see Marner accepting less based on how the negotiations went. In that case again, would have been possibly insane to trade a 22 year old coming off a 90+ season, but who knows, maybe he would have.

Marner looks lost out there though.

Jesus, and I thought yesterday was bad

This team has nothing, no pride, no leadership, no heart, nothing

I was being to nice to them calling them pathetic, they would need to get 50% better just to get to that level

I'm not even angry, I'm just disgusted with the lot of them (except Spezza)

I don't care who gets fired or traded out of this lot, I don't like them enough to care any more

I feel blessed that I've only caught bits and pieces of each game. Wasting any of my time watching this team just seems like a bad investment at this point.

I've had them on mostly as background noise lately, as they really haven't been worth watching. But this game was such an absolute ass kicking, I couldn't look away. Like watching a train wreck in slow motion.

This is just a disgrace. At this point of I am management I would ban him from public speaking. Trade him, please!

These canned answers to the media are so aggravating. but what's more aggravating is, when players answer a reporters question by saying "obviously" I hear that shit constantly, and it makes me crazy.

Watching the post game's, the only one that really took accountability, and I actually believed what he was saying was Muzzin. He was the only one that looked pissed off and upset about what just happened. It was refreshing.

This is what happens when your head coach blatantly disrespects and disregards your goalie coach and judges goaltending how fans do (goals going in) instead of how a coach should (fundamentals and process). Anyone who knows goalies could tell you (and has been telling you) there was a problem in net due to unreliability in health and unreliability in fundamental technique.

Yeah, that game and the zamboni game were enough to convince me this core has no heart, and that includes Matthews (smiling cheshire cat while being collared by Chiarot. If he had any sense of pride he would have turned around and clocked him)
