Just another ugly performance, 2nd one in a row. Team looked uninspired to play. Starts with your top guys, not nearly good enough.

Leafs kryptonite will always being play against hard working teams.

Getting back to tactics for a moment, a lot of the problems the Leafs are running into has to do with a misunderstanding of puck possession.

So far this season we've seen them hold the puck for more time and zone time and shots on goal in some of their more dominant games, but they kick it around on the perimeter behaving like a soccer team.

It's like the marching orders they get are more conducive to winning a game of keep away and shot spamming than meaningfully picking apart a box defense, open seams, generating havoc around the net and being in position to score ugly goals.

They also look extremely slow all the time. Not necessarily because of inherent foot speed issues up and down the lineup but they don't understand speed and momentum. The fastest way to move a puck is to pass it. And a chip/dump and chase is a good way to break down defensive positioning by forcing a defenseman to make a retreat to retrieve the puck, at which point hard work can be used to regain possession.

These are hockey basics they've tried reinventing the wheel on and other teams have figured them out. What they're doing is a misapplication of skill.

Maybe they should covert Marner into a D like Karlsson.
1. He will be RHD
2. He will QB the PP and let Spezza comes in for Reilly
5. He can’t possibly be worse than Holl in the back.
This is like Borat language. “Holl of ass”

A positive look before hitting bed. Maybe 20% odds of being true but hopefully 100%: Maybe this is the adversity needed to finally push them over the edge. They've always snoozed through the regular season then ousted in the first round. Boston losses they slept their way to 3rd in division. Jackets were looked down upon. Don't even get me started on the North division. Perhaps adversity now, overcoming it and proving everyone wrong by making the playoffs and earning back contender status is what will build the killer instinct we have been missing.

Most people are too mad right now to take this serious, but at the end of the day we're all still Leafs fans so a part of you, even if small hope it's true.

Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Rielly and Tavares have experienced a lot of humiliating and unusual defeats in the regular season and playoffs over the past 3 years. If they didn't get it after they got Babcock fired, lost to an EBUG goalie, let a 3-2 series lead vs Boston slip, 2 critical no shows vs Columbus, a 3-1 series slip vs Montreal and the game to game meltdowns in each of those series, I don't think is going to be the wake up call.

How much more adversity do these guys need? I no longer believe that they have it in them to be leaders and winners. They are passengers.

You don’t win with passengers as your leaders. When you have a team of passengers you get what you see. What more proof? Look at the Kessel/Phaneuf team they were all passengers!

Campbell makes me miss 2017-2019 Andersen.

this was his first bad game in what feels like forever lol. He literally lead the league in SV% before tonight after a fantastic year last season. He's been better for us than andersen ever was. You've lost the plot if you're at all blaming Jack for anything. And if you miss andersen's game 7 softies he's got you covered there too!

this isn't really directed at you but I swear the way some of you guys talk about ex-leafs makes me think I'm living in an alternate universe. We didn't win anything with them either lol.

Only way Dumbass saves his and all his Soo buddies jobs is to get JT to waive his nmc and then find someone dumb enough to take him .

Yea, at the end of the day, they are who they are. Good people I am sure, good at winning hockey games when it matters? Probably not.

I’m surprised you missed Campbell’s game 7 softie and how he shit the bed in 3 close out games .

Idk it just felt like there was more optimism in those teams. 2016-17 was a rookie lead team that had so much promise. While we didn’t win, it felt like from 2017-2019 we progressed, then Babcock firing then shit play then CBJ, then the next seasons facade and mtl. It’s been a downwards spiral. Now while Campbell wasn’t the problem, he definitely wasn’t good today, 2-3 goals he should’ve had. we should’ve been able to play him for both nights, if it’s true mrazek is out for only 2 weeks, then playing Campbell 3 games in 4 nights SHOULDNT be impossible

meh? What the hell did the top line do in those final games? Blame the 2 million dollar goalie or the 22 million dollar pair?

Lets face it, this kid has f***ed up our cap big time.. we can't do jack squat! Marner at over 11m???? he's a 6-7mill at best player... hell.. the way he is playing now, since the playoffs last year, I am pulling straws to give the kid that amount... Dubass, can kiss my ass and leave
And the 'Shanaplan' can kiss my ass too and get this dumb ass Dead Thing, the puck outta here as well. Dramatics is over, hire Hunter like we we're supposed too. Oh wait...

Yes things look bad right now with the awful puck luck they’re having. I honestly believe they thought the SJ, and depleted Pittsburgh games were going to be easy. They mentally were not ready in any way to compete. Keefe has to make changes around the PP. Can’t keep running out the same groups, especially Reilly who refuses to be a shooting threat from the point.

The hockey gods are gift wrapping Eichel for Dubas. It's a miracle Eichel hasn't been traded yet. Marner needs a change too.

Eichel is a type A. He and Matthews are buddies but also compete fiercely against each other. That's the atmosphere we need on the team.
It has nothing to do with the hockey gods, Eichel needs neck surgery. That's why no one is bidding.

The Sabres would take Marner in a heart beat. After the trade, however, Eichel will be off for 3 to 4 months recovering from neck surgery IF the Leafs let him get Artificial Disc Replacement (ADR) and it is successful.

If it is unsuccessful and Eichel is unable to play, the Leafs would be on the hook for the entire $50M - insurance will not cover his salary if Eichel gets ADR.

IF the Leafs insist on fusion, which is the procedure the vast majority of doctors feel is needed, Eichel will be gone for 6 months.

So... Do you still want to trade Marner for Eichel?

If you ever feel like you've ever done something stupid, at least you didn't bet your career on Mitchell Marner being worth 11 million dollar a year

There are people who actually thinks he's better than Matthews and could also play centre, and that assists are worth the same as goals. Where are these assists when the team needs them? :sarcasm:

Matthews demanded McDavid money (when term is included.)
McDavid: 5gp, 13 points
Matthews: 3gp, 0 poins

Marner demanded being paid as a tier above Aho/Rantanen/Price.
Aho: 4gp, 6 points
Rantanen: 4gp, 4 points
Point: 5gp, 3 pionts
Marner: 6gp, 1 point

Heads should roll. Heads should f***ING roll.

Guess which GM Shanahan kept? :sarcasm:

Dubas: 0 playoff round wins
Lamoriello: 3 Stanley Cups, 2 GM of the Year awards, Hall of Famer

Heads should definitely roll.
