Post-Game Talk: And that should be the end of the Leafs core

It's threads like these that made me want to create an account that was called "The Pendulum" which would just be gifs of a pendulum swinging back and forth with the change in the team's momentum. The point being to demonstrate how irrationally reactionary this fanbase is.

SO MANY people need to CHILL. The Leafs have had many 5-5 type spells between their 15 game lossless streaks, it just so happens this season is starting off with one. It was an embarrassing game, sure, but it's no reason to freak out. Save that for when they're floundering below the 500 mark at the trade deadline.

It's not the wins and losses that bother me, its HOW they are losing. If they worked their asses off, and lost I wouldn't be so concerned but it's like they are just giving up. They are playing like they have the weight of the world on their shoulders 6 games in. That is a dangerous mindset.

HF is just a sad place to be after an early regular season loss. This place has been absolutely toxic since game 7. No wonder some of the best posters have completely avoided this place in recent months. Just not the same like it used to be. Used to be fun to post here even when you disagreed with someone or have a debate with another poster.

ya the team has been really underwhelming, but it’s the same negative posters day in and day out. Not sure how I feel about the team and it has less to do with the actual on ice product. But the way fans turn on the team on a dime. You just don’t see this type of reaction for other teams. Idk, hopefully we turn it around

I would have absolutely no problem gutting the organization but I have absolutely zero faith that whoever we replace them with would be competent in any way what so ever. Knowing the way we do things they would just go for a course correction extremely hard to the other side and we will just be running this whole song and dance again a year or two later lol

Anyone giving this team a pass and saying it's early needs to give their head a shake. This core has consistently wilted under any kind of expectations or pressure.

Tavares and the assistant captains have no business wearing letters for this team. They throw in the towel everytime they face adversity. I can't believe we've squandered another rebuild, but here we are.

Clean house. No interest in watching this core anymore, it stinks.

The problem is it just isn’t 6 games in. It’s 6 games after an embarrassing loss to Montreal last year. Then that season was after the leafs getting shutout against Columbus in a play in round. Then that season was after the leafs were up 3-2 on Boston and lost 5-1 in game 7. And that season was after another Boston first rd exit. This problem isn’t just 6 games old. This problem is 17 yrs plus old, 4 plus years with this core.

Tear it down and build around who? Jason Spezza lol? We do this every time we have a top talent. They don’t provide immediate results and we drive them out of town, they go else where and win. So maybe it’s more of an organizational culture thing and not ONLY the players. Calm down, tearing it down isn’t the right approach. There needs to be changes of course. Who goes and who stays I don’t know. Marner to Calgary for Matthew Tkachuk is the only logical move I see if it gets to that point. I want nothing to do with Eichel, he is more of a problem than Marner “is”

Not scoring is one thing but there overall defensive game sucks.
Not getting involved physically is a problem . So many times engvall has an opportunity to to hit someone and he doesn't . It will get him involved in the game.
Our defense has know one that will put some on there ass in front of the net , except for Muzzin ( once in awhile )
I've always said if you are not getting involved physically , you are not in the game.
When we play other team they don't let alot of our shots through , we on the other seem to let shots through to our goaltender.
Keefe what are you teaching these players because it isn't working.

Well, when the young core pushed for a more casual dress code, the writing is on the wall.
If they are worried about what clothes you wear off the ice, with a team that has been underperforming for the last 3 seasons, the message that sends is crystal clear. Some of the lads don´t give a rats arse about winning.

It's also delusional to think this core is going to win anything. This is the Muskoka 5 all over again, the culture stinks of entitlement.
Every team that's ever won the cup has done it without Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner.

Last year's debacle was bound to be a turning point for this group when the brass elected to back the core. They were either going to figure it out or wilt completely. The early returns are...not promising.

i love the leafs but they aren’t my whole life. My ultimate happiness isn’t going to be decided on whether they win the cup or not. I get upset that they lose but then I move on lol. Because at the end of the day its just a game. It’s good to be a die heart fan but you should really take a step back if it’s getting to you that much that you’re that angry.
