The residency ends in June. It's not that bad for a couple of this level of salary.

I have a wife that also went through residency and fellowship and we survived the geographical inconveniences it brought with far less money than Trouba.

It's going to be fine for them. Sucks for their kid, but it's a few months and that kid is going to be set for life.

i'm not saying it's not manageable but it's not a case of her just not wanting to follow her husband to anaheim

Love how the rags handled this. All business.

I actually like Trouba but boy is he washed
All business maybe, but they have a locker room that doesn’t trust the GM. The on ice product has been astonishingly bad lately and I think plenty of the reason is that the players feel undervalued and unappreciated.

Blame them if you like, but I think the mismanagement of certain players is a huge factor. Hopefully this helps

The other thread got locked, but I'll repeat what I said there....

Trouba has to be furious, right? Wife is still a Dr in NY and that was one of the key reasons for the original move to NY? And they just had a baby earlier this year?
Could be , but it’s a business, why stay where you’re not wanted.
Not sure if Anaheim was on 15 team NTC.

Out of curiosity: I read in the other thread that covid somehow extended his wife´s work/stay in NY. How does that work? How is it possible for an employer to force someone to stay another year?

Ducks essentially traded their #8 oft injured D (he's been passed by Helleson on the depth chart probably) and a 4th round pick which realistically wasn't going to move the needle in the rebuild. Ducks didn't lose anything but money/cap space. It's a clear win for the Rangers, but if Trouba can be a #4/5 that can clear the crease and throw some big hits, Ducks need that.

Plus, he's probably going to play a lot less here... between the injury luck and how many suspensions he'll get for any borderline hit (this is Anaheim now) he's probably not going to be in the lineup that much over the next couple years

Call me crazy, but i actually like this for Anaheim. They could use a RHD who brings the physical element that Trouba does, to set a bit of a different tone on their back end. Basically gave up nothing but cap space to do it.

As much as his contract is oversized and he doesn't play in a way that tends to be flattered by analytics, he's still a Top-4D. And by all accounts, he's a good leader in the room. Anaheim could probably use that as well. Especially if they do end up moving Fowler at some point.

Obviously it's good for the Rangers as well. Clearing that much cap space should give them way more flexibility at the deadline, and in the offseason that was looking like a foregone conclusion that Trouba would have to be moved somehow. Sets them up nicely for that desired "shakeup", depending on how they follow this up.

But i do still like it for Anaheim too.

Well, I am still a little miffed he forced his way off the Jets - with only 1 destination - severely handcuffing Chevy in trade value. So too bad he is sad.

Gotta say great job by Drury

Dumping Trouba at this point and getting a pick in process as well

I forgot Vaakanainen was a former Bruin 1st rounder who busted. At this point his regression in Anaheim this year probably will see him leave for Europe in offseason. Doesn't appear to have a future in NA
