The other thread got locked, but I'll repeat what I said there....

Trouba has to be furious, right? Wife is still a Dr in NY and that was one of the key reasons for the original move to NY? And they just had a baby earlier this year?
Probably is pissed, but its part of the occupation. He went to a team on his modified list at least. If he didn't want to be traded, maybe should have considered less money but insisted a full NMC?

It’s a cap dump. It gets him out of the room. Nothing else matters to the Rangers. Hopefully Lindgren is next

This is always said when trades happen like this or drama goes down and yet players always want to come here. They play in the most famous city on earth, which is incredibly attractive for foreigners. They play at the most famous arena in the USA. They get first class treatment above and beyond almost any other NHL organization. Players will always want to come here.

But why would you?

He doesn't deserve your empathy. He's rich, he's a whiny :eek::eek::eek: and he tries to injure other players.

He's one of the biggest assholes in the League.
How was he whiny?

Live by the sword, die by the sword.

Every player has the right to be a hard ass on their contract status, just like Trouba. Give no quarter, but don't expect any concessions back either.

a terrible hockey player with a terrible contract isn't a sure-fire negative asset?
A guy who doesn't have NMC protection can just be waived before having to be traded with an asset to negate his negative value. If that doesn't happen, that's a sure-fire sign of there being some kind of market. As was reported today prior to the trade. You misjudged the market, it happens.

Judging by the thread, it appears the biggest losers of this deal were the New Jersey Devils.
As a devils fan, I will say that I would rather have Trouba on the rangers than not. I imagine fans of teams like Carolina feel the same way.

But at the same time, I'm not sure how much this does to really solve anything for them in a significant manner if you know what I mean. Really depends on what comes next.

That's the reason he vetoed a trade to Detroit earlier this year 🤷

What're the ramifications of not reporting to your trade destination?
Last time I can remember it happening publicly was quite a few years ago now. Toronto traded Chad Kilger to florida at the deadline and instead of reporting he promptly retired and returned to Cornwall where his daddy, the fire chief, gave him a job. He’s still working there all these years later.

could have fooled me!
No contract that ends in 18 months can be seriously classified as "terrible." That should be reserved for contracts with at least 3+ years remaining if not 5.

This is gonna shock the hell out of people but no, a trade doesn't end up being bad for an NHL team because the value the team gave up wasn't in line with what a Devils fan on the internet thinks it shouldn't have been
Make that a Devils fan and this Habs fan if you want. Trouba is terrible at this point and any stats you want to look at will confirm it

Judging by the thread, it appears the biggest losers of this deal were the New Jersey Devils.
Why ? They are a way better team than the Rangers with or without Trouba

I bet you’re happy you don’t have to watch your little skill guys get lit up by Troubs as much any more
humorously, the only two guys I can really remember Trouba lighting up are Timo and Tomas Nosek, both pretty large guys.

Can't remember him doing much damage to the likes of the others, but obviously not a point to remember random hits during the regular season from like 3 or 4 years ago.

Well of that's true, can we name KAM and Zib co cap
One thing I learned today is that being the captain of the Rangers is basically a ticket out of town. It has ended ugly for the last three players. That were named captain of this team.

Well if that's true can we name KAM and Zib Co-Captains and get them the F out of here before the puck drops tonight?

Dumping Trouba is the definition of addition by subtraction as it is. The fact that the Rangers managed to do it without retaining any salary and getting a draft pick back on top pushes this into highway robbery territory.
