No, but you can say that you aren't signing until you get a fair contract.

That is precisely what they did. It cost them a few hundred thousand dollars by saying that between July 1st and now. He could lose another couple hundred thousand by keeping saying that until December. If December 1st rolls along, and that's still what Murray offers, what are you going to do? It's not like he can get $5M in the KHL, let alone Sweden. They had to realize there was no offer sheet coming to bail them out. That's just being an RFA. You don't get equal leverage.

Great team friendly deal, Ducks fans should be quite happy. Though his next contract is going to be incredibly pricey.

He better pray to the hockey gods though that Carlyle decides to retire soon or else he's going to be in for a very rough few years

Just like that Cam Fowler guy! Carlyle has continuously ruined his life!

Buffalo must hate Risto's deal right now. Lindholm's defensive stats are from a different planet, and their offensive output is similar. Though Ducks fans propably hate Stoner's, Vatanen's and Bieksa's contracts after this one even more.

There is no hate for Vatanen's contract, and he doesn't deserve any.

That's a pretty unnecessary jab. Buffalo fans will probably acknowledge the quality of this contract, but they can still be pretty happy with Ristolainen's, given that it's still in line with the other comparables. Vatanen's being very different in terms of proximity to UFA-dom makes it also a non-starter for comparision. I don't think the hate for the Bieksa/Stoner contracts had any potential for growth left.

It's very stupid of the GM to be minus a RFA for 8 games in order to shed highly important cap hit for 6 entire years during a cup window?

I wouldn't expect a Bob Murray hater to be much of a thinker anyways. All he's done is:

-nominated for best GM in the sport 3 of the last 4 seasons
-iced a team that has won their division 4 seasons in a row, the longest streak in the sport
-done this while maintaining a ton of high end prospects and a fantastic future outlook

You can pick apart his individual moves, but his recent success is unrivaled outside of winning a cup which he can't physically do himself. He iced a strong cup contender 4 years in a row, and the players/coaching staff let him down. They were indeed 1 win from an almost certain cup 2 years ago, as they outplayed the blackhawks and narrowly lost. The blackhawks then predictably outclassed the inferior tampa team in a series that was way less competitive than the previous one.

I commend you on your use of satire. :handclap::handclap::handclap::handclap:

It really is great to see on these boards, because we truly do not see it enough.:laugh::laugh:

I haven't seen it in this thread but does Lindholm have to wait until he gets his work visa or can he play tomorrow?

Anaheim was willing to play hardball and start the season without him playing, and Buffalo didn't want to push it that far with Ristolainen. I understand both sides. Anaheim was also somewhat forced to with their cap situation, which is much different than Buffalo's.

Concur. I don't see why Buffalo fans would hate Ristolainen's contract. It's a good contract. It's Ekblad and Hamilton that, I think, raise eyebrows.

No one hates Vatanen's contract other than one particular poster who has always seemed to have a hate on for Vats (that's you).

The benefit of a minor league team in SAN Diego helps here.
Moving guys up and down the I5 is pretty handy:yo:

Amazing deal for the Ducks. Hopefully Hampus is happy with it and won't hold any resentment to the team.

Trade Fowler.

That's likely not happening. Lindholm took an obvious discount and he says it was to protect the core of the team and prolong the window. Trading Fowler now would be a slap in Lindholm's face and the owners faces. GM BM can keep us under the cap with other smaller moves.

As Ducks fans have said all summer long, despite other fans thinking we're full of it, we are very happy to keep Fowler if we can. And now we can.
